What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have completed most of the foundational elements that were planned during the early stages of development. However, due to the inclusion of extensive features and elements, I have spent a long time fixing bugs and various issues, and after continuous struggles, I have succeeded in resolving the immediate problems.

Nevertheless, there might still be issues that I am unaware of, and since the game has the advantage of being able to naturally absorb many elements of popular genres, I would like to work together with you to complete the various contents and features.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I won't drag this out for too long. There isn't much lacking at the moment, but I am determined to further refine the balance of interactions and combinations between entities through early access. Additionally, I still need to increase the number of skills for enemy factions and the number of side quests for each environment to ensure they all match.

The official release is likely to be in 2026, and if there are any changes to the plan, I will be sure to inform you.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Addition of hidden locations
  • Addition of NPC quests in the field
  • Introduction of new enemy factions
  • controller support
  • Addition of various equipment and items
  • Introduction of unique towers
  • Addition of player and enemy faction skills
  • Addition of new Master Mode types
  • Addition of a large number of mutant wild monsters
  • In multiple playthroughs, players will be offered a unique exploration experience through difficulty and playstyle settings.
  • As a New Game+ feature, the difficulty of all stages and existing bosses' skills will increase with each game clear, up to a total of three stages.

The order is not fixed, and we plan to update the most appropriate features or elements one by one according to the situation. There are also additional and revamped elements that are not included in this list.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The developer has conducted numerous tests, but the balance between the affinities of combat-capable entities and ally combinations may still be somewhat lacking. Through Early Access, we aim to gather a wide range of feedback on affinities and combinations, as well as bug reports and suggestions for improvement.

Additionally, while enjoying the various content, you may find that the average time to complete the first game ranges from at least 30 hours to potentially hundreds of hours due to its roguelike progression.

The difficulty of Crimson Quest is by no means easy, and you should be prepared to go through many trials and errors. I am always open to your opinions and feedback, and I plan to gradually adjust the difficulty with the many additional contents to come.

For details on the features currently implemented, please refer to the "About This Game" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price for the Early Access version has been set at a level that should be reasonable given the development time, complexity, and amount of content. We plan to gradually increase the price as new content and features are added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Please leave your feedback anywhere you can, as long as it's a place I can check. In particular, please refer to the channel list at the bottom of the Steam store page.
I am always waiting for your opinions and will do my best to improve the game in a better direction.”

About This Game

Crimson Quest

is the birth of a new genre, combining features of incompatible genres to achieve fun and perfect mechanisms. I enjoy pioneering such innovations, and naturally, I had to pay special attention to level design to make it a complete genre.

While traditional RTS games require players to multitask by controlling all bases and units they create, Crimson Quest allows players to control only one character who also acts as a production base, generating units (monsters) with various traits and battle towers.

This gives a small demon tremendous production capabilities and combines the fun of real-time roguelike progression, exploration, and a bit of action! It's a new and unique genre that perfectly integrates traditional RTS elements.

Explore.

Discover various objects through exploration and identify the locations of wild monsters inhabiting the field in advance.
You can open the map to mark desired areas, and if you've unlocked the scouting feature, you can use it to survey distant locations!
If you want to grow faster than enemy forces, you need to move strategically without wasting any movements.

Gather resources to create monsters and towers.

You can use worker monsters to mine energy deposits scattered across the field or open various treasure chests that appear when you get close to acquire resources!
Monsters require more ores as they level up, and towers require different amounts of resources depending on their type.
You can also exchange surplus resources with a traveling resource collector for other types, so it’s a good idea to find out where he is.

Beware of enemy growth.

It's best to choose the type of stage carefully.
Depending on which stage you select, one of the two enemy factions will grow.

Level up your desired ally monsters.

You can acquire souls by killing enemy monsters or scavenging monster corpses scattered across the field.
Try to save as many souls as possible, as they will be converted into conquest experience points for the corresponding monster through the soul tally conducted after completing a stage, allowing you to level them up.
Leveled-up monsters can learn summoning skills or receive bonus souls at the start of a stage.
Additionally, monsters that reach the maximum level will gain a special benefit.

Beware of the kingdom's heroes!

The three heroes will pursue you in real-time, gradually closing the distance.
They do not die and will only retreat a bit if defeated, but they will resume their pursuit shortly.
Unlike the general growth of the two enemy factions, heroes hunt enemies themselves to gain experience.
Each hero will acquire a unique skill once their experience is fully accumulated, and as they gain more skills, they become uncontrollably stronger, so it's advantageous for you to deal with them as quickly as possible.

Use various items efficiently.

The different items you can obtain from treasure chests and stage rewards will be very helpful on your journey.
Items can be broadly categorized into consumables and equipment.
Consumables include various potions that can restore health, cause status effects, and use different traps to inflict damage on enemies.
Equipment items can enhance your offensive abilities, provide passive effects, and offer special bonuses, allowing you to achieve significant benefits.

Enjoy the altered play styles.

Before starting your journey, you can choose from various modes to alter your play style.
Through these modes, you can become a warrior, an explorer, or even an architect.
Transform your player character into the mode of your choice to develop and progress in a new direction.
