Welcome to the OMSI 2 Add-on “Thüringer Wald”!
Explore the fictional scenery around the Thuringian Forest Nature Park along the Rennsteig trail with a wide variety of intercity buses featuring countless configuration options, all lovingly recreated with attention to detail and modeled after real-life landscapes.

The Thuringian Forest is a densely wooded low mountain range in the Free State of Thuringia, located in the heart of Germany. It reaches up to almost 1,000 meters above sea level and spans over 1,000 square kilometers. The neighboring Thuringian Slate Mountains are often considered a southeastern extension of the Thuringian Forest and are crossed by the Rennsteig ridge trail. Characteristic features include the typical hilly terrain of the region, crisscrossed with idyllic hiking trails offering picturesque views, the unusually uniform spruce forest vegetation, and the slate-covered houses, which are also found in the small villages on the OMSI 2 map.

Included in the add-on are modern AI vehicles with local company liveries, a detailed RS1 (BR 650) train model, new passenger voices in the South Thuringian dialect, and countless new and unique objects and roads with high-resolution textures and detailed models.

The Omnibus-Verkehr-Rennsteig GmbH (OVR for short) has made it its mission to serve even the most remote villages in the fictional Thuringian Forest landscape around the year 2005, bringing passengers safely to their destinations. A particular highlight is the preserved “bike-hiking-bus” service, allowing you to transport tourists and their bicycles with a special bus and trailer combo. In addition to the vehicles of OVR GmbH, you can also drive buses from the two subcontractors Kessler-Reisen (from Bad Lemnitz) and Müller-Touristik (from Wurzbach).

Hop into a suitable intercity bus and explore the Thuringian Forest across a total of six varied routes!

• Fictional intercity map designed based on real-world inspirations, covering over 17 km² with nearly 50 km of driveable routes

• Four routes with mostly unique line layouts and travel times between 15 and 35 minutes

• Realistic object scenery of the Thuringian Forest, featuring characteristic slate and half-timbered houses and many unique detail and vegetation elements

• A wide variety of new roads adapted to the challenging terrain of the Thuringian uplands

• Interactive and season-dependent game world, such as changing crops or Christmas decorations

• Fully accurate recreations of the intercity buses S315UL, S315UL-GT, S317UL Facelift, S317UL-GT Facelift, and O550, developed in close collaboration with a real-life driver of these models

• Representation of variants from production years 1994 to 2006, including all differences in form, sound, and equipment

• Each bus includes its own highly detailed soundscape, featuring engines of the types OM447hLA (Euro 2) and OM457hLA (Euro 3)
