About This Game

SCP: CARDTAINMENT BREACH is a singleplayer free-to-play strategy deck building game based on the SCP Foundation universe, an open source horror/fantasy writing project starring hundreds of anomalous objects and creatures.

THE STORY

In this game, you play as a human prisoner designated D-9341 who has found themselves inside of SCP-079s containment chamber due to a containment breach in which dozens of entities have escaped and caused havoc.
You then find out that 079 was the one who instigated the breach, and similarly to you, has the same goal as you: freedom.
079 is willing to form an uneasy alliance, as you would make its job much easier. However, it does not fully trust in your capabilities, and due to the nature of the facility, cannot trust you unless you are useful to it.
079 needs to know if you are capable and intelligent enough to be useful, and luckily has a program built into itself that the foundation used to play with it to test its capabilities.
If you fail the game, 079 states it will have to dispose of you through lethal means.
This game however, to prevent 079 from learning even more data about the outside world, was based entirely off of the creatures and objects stored in the facility.
This allowed 079 to piece together how the creatures worked and how to best exploit their weaknesses and strengths, and was able to formulate a plan for a containment breach.

THE GAMEPLAY

In this game, you put together a deck of 8 cards, including:

  • 5 entity cards (SCPs like 173, 096, 106, 049, etc.)
  • 2 item cards (131, 009, 500, etc.)
  • 1 passive card (001, 207, 018, etc.)

The game has a turn based structure in which both you and 079 will place down one entity card and one item card per turn. Afterwards, the cards enter the "combat" stage, in which every card on the board, from top-left to bottom-right, will use their abilities. Some cards have special abilities, other cards can be stacked to build up their stats, known has horde cards.
Certain passive cards have abilities based on the daytime, which is only visible if a daytime based card is on the board. Every 3 days, the day/night cycle will change.
You and the opponent both have 10 HP, and to attack your opponent, your entity cards must enter the combat stage without having a card on the opposing side, thus leaving them open.
Max HP can be configured before starting the game.

Once you've proven yourself to 079, you can attempt again to see if you can beat it with a different or better strategy. This time, 079 does not threaten you with fatal consequences if you lose.
You can play as many times as you want, as even if you lose and are "disposed of" you may re-enter the game and try again.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

there isnt any real visuals shown but instead from flavor text of cards you can piece together how the cards act and attack
