What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are still in the process of adapting Infinite Scuba specifically for Steam. We are excited to learn more about the Steam players who are interested in the game, which Steam features they would like us to include, and how we can build stronger relationships in our community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to be in Early Access about 18 weeks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Completing the in-game store is very high priority. Past that, we want to add new gear, dive sites, features to enable novice gamers to come up-to-speed confidently, and Steam-specific features, as well as more real-world diving activities. We are also working on a graphics update.

After that, we will focus on our third dive site and continue to add new gear, dive sites, features to enable novice gamers to come up-to-speed confidently, and Steam-specific features, as well as more real-world diving activities. We have a long wishlist of features for this game, including in-progress #VR work that has opened many unexpected doors for us.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game enables players to do what real scuba divers do - explore real-world locations, identify wildlife, find sunken artifacts, take photos, and clean up the reef. Players have 500 clams to spend on new gear or new dive site; clams cannot be supplemented until the in-game store is complete.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Releasing the game on Steam has been a team goal for quite awhile, so we're super excited to expand our reach and meet more of the friendly tribe of people who love simulation games, the ocean, and learning about the real world as they play. We are hoping to engage with Steam players to help us prioritize our work going forward.

We are a small indie team who work on other companies' projects as well as our own, so our pace can be a bit slow, but we are tenacious ocean advocates and this game is our labor of love. We call our development style 'crock-pot' because we take the time to experiment and make sure each release is tasty. Looking forward to meeting you!”

About This Game

Infinite Scuba is a relaxing, beautiful, non-fiction scuba-diving experience, so players do what real divers do - explore real-world locations, identify wildlife, search for sunken artifacts, take photos, and clean up the reef.

  • All of the locations, wildlife, gear, and science are real and reflect the serenity, beauty, and thrill of diving in the real world.
  • As players find animals and artifacts or complete other tasks in the water, they unlock Knowledge Rewards that tell more about the wildlife, local history, local culture, and environmental issues.
  • We are divers ourselves and we want to help people learn about what lives in the ocean and how/why they should protect it.
  • We go to great lengths to ensure the integrity of the experience, working with scientists and divemasters who are experts in each region to make sure the dive sites are as real as we can make them.

Partners

  • We’re excited to work with the legendary Dr. Sylvia Earle (National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, Time Magazine Hero for the Planet, founder of Mission Blue, a pioneer in oceanographic research starting back in the 1950s). Sylvia and her crew help us ensure the accuracy of the environmental information we present.
  • We also work with the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association (DEMA) and over 20 dive equipment manufacturers to make sure the gear looks and behaves as it does IRL.
