What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Nightshift Galaxy is a arcade-mecha-battler, which is a good fit for an iterative development process where I can get feedback from players about the direction to take loadouts, arenas, and enemy types. Additionally, as a solo-developer, the opportunity to get real feedback while also building a community creates a virtuous cycle.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm thinking a solid year with regular updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For early access I want to create more of a sandbox that players can play-around in and experiment. For the full version, I'd like to add more curated gameplay and narrative framing, as well as polish the art and music.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Core combat is implemented with three playable characters:
  • A transforming robot/jet that acts as a balanced choice.
  • A wall-crawling spider tank with heavy weapons.
  • An acrobatic, high-speed glass-cannon fighter.

There are also three intial maps, featuring unique environmental features:
  • Changing Gravity / Zero Gravity
  • Rail-Shooter Sections
  • Level-Scale Interactive Mecha & Spaceships

Lastly, there's a basic set of customizable weapons/equipment, and wave-spawned enemy types.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Comparing the limited scope of the early-access sandbox to a content-rich full release, I would expect to raise the price for the full-version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I stream development openly on twitch and solicit discussion on a dedicated discord.”
