What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We told our fans and Kickstarter backers we wanted their help shaping Pro Wrestling X, and we're using Early Access to make good on that promise. If anyone wants to hop on board the crazy train, they are more than welcome!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Pro Wrestling X is as much a platform as it is an actual game; as such, we'll always be in on-going development. We'll continue to tweak, break, add new features, perfect old ones for quite some time. So the line between "Early Access" and "Final" is a bit blurred. In fact, there likely is no "Final".

With that said, we've laid out a "Roadmap to 1.0" feature list in our long description. Once we complete that list, we'll transition away from Early Access. We're hopeful this is a 3-4 month timeline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have a short-term goal of reaching the Roadmap to 1.0 feature set. Beyond that, the sky's the limit. With the help of our fans, Pro Wrestling X in October 2015 will certainly be a very different game from where it is today. From humble beginnings...”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our initial Early Access builds are focused on nailing the basics: movement, striking, grappling. The essential heart of any great wrestling game, this is where the fun lives. This is where any wrestling gamer wants to start having input on development. The timing, the pacing, the feel.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our Early Access game will be regularly priced at a number that is near-and-dear to every wrestling fan in 2014: $9.99. Once we hit 1.0, the cost of the game will rise. And as our game becomes more robust, we'll likely continue to raise the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“For anyone that knows the roots of our game, Pro Wrestling X IS a community project. With the thousands (and thousands!) of fans on email lists and social platforms, we've been a community for a very long time. Our fans have been instrumental in getting us this far, and we wouldn't be here without them.

We've had a long history of surveys, questions of the week, and direct email access to our project. We'll continue those practices and develop additional communication tools to get the crucial feedback we'll need to keep going in the right direction.”

About This Game

Our gameplay is a love letter to the AKI classics of the Nintendo 64 era, WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF No Mercy, and we're taking full advantage of current game engine technology. We're delivering a gaming experience that looks modern but feels fun and familiar. A game made BY wrestling fans, FOR wrestling fans.

Our Philosophy

Our mission with Pro Wrestling X is clear and attainable:

  • Focus on simple-but-deep gameplay mechanics that are FUN!
  • Build a game that's open and moddable. Give PC gamers the freedom and tools to create and share new content.
  • Create a wrestling game platform that evolves and grows – and never goes backwards.
  • The ultimate goal: the fun of WWF No Mercy + the depth of Fire Pro Wrestling.
  • Give love and respect to pro wrestling for the memories it has given us.

Roadmap to 1.0

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter, we're committed to delivering the following functionality for our 1.0 release:

  • Movement – Standard D-pad/stick directional movement; running/Irish whips; climb turnbuckle; enter/exit ring to floor; block/perry/escape (think WWF No Mercy); pick up downed opponent; taunt; pinfall attempt.
  • Grappling – 4 front grapple moves; 2 back grapple moves; 1 corner grapple; 1 special/finisher.
  • Striking/submission – 3 strikes; 2 ground submissions; 1 ground strike; 2 flying turnbuckle moves.
  • Extras – 3 playable characters; 1 base arena; blue steel cage (made most famous in WWF Wrestlefest); "international objects" (aka weapons).
  • Controls – Keyboard and USB gamepad support (XBox 360 controller compatible)

Current Status: Early Access

Pro Wrestling X is an Early Access title, probably not for the faint of heart. We've started with basic movement, striking and grappling, and as we perfect each mechanism, we'll keep adding more. If you are looking for a complete game and don't want to see how the sausage is made, hold off for now. Add us to your Wishlist and circle back in a bit!

If, however, you want to witness a wrestling game get developed from the ground up and have your voice heard along the way, hop aboard the crazy train. There may be bugs and glitches and a not-so-deep experience on day one, but we're not going to stop – and we'd love your help!
