What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Poor Little Pigeon is a solo development effort. It's unrealistic to plan on Android Asylum being the kind of polished game I would personally want to play without significant playtesting over a long period of time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I aim to be in early access for roughly a year, so 1.0 should hit around December 2026. This may change depending on community feedback. However I plan for this to be a long-term simulation project that continues to evolve over time past 1.0 and beyond.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early access is the "core" structure of the game with minimal content. Before we can declare a release 1.0, it needs significant amounts of content: dynamic events, unit types, etc.

The following are planned additions prior to 1.0:
- Large base of dynamic events that trigger from a character's personality or history (during gameplay)
- Emergent narrative system that taps into your existing characters and their histories with each other and the world
- Mid and post-game map level catastrophes
- Around 15-20 combat unit types
- Significant amount of varied combat unit abilities and traits (via character improvement systems)
- Rank system (dynamic difficulty)
- Arcade-style scoring
- Dynamic goal system during map gameplay

The ultimate goal is for each playthrough to feel meaningfully different: varied emergent narratives and distinct characters that shape how the map changes as you fight your way through or even just survive.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the present moment, we have the following structural pieces complete:
- Full map functionality
- Full combat system functionality
- Basic UI functionality
- Basic dynamic event system
- 4 combat unit types
- Basic character improvement system (increase stats, gain abilities, etc)

I do stream development of the game so current state and near-future additions can always be seen there as well.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, I plan for the price to stay consistent.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is the reason for being here: I can't make this game without you! I'm a one person team who thinks about this project all day, so it takes a lot of time and effort to try to stay objective about specific pieces of work on the project. I often have to come back to something over and over and say "is this actually good?". The more the community can share their opinions, positive or negative, the better.

We do have a discord server to discuss development and development streams.”
