GAMEPLAY


First things first: choose your starter monster, perfectly matched to your unique battle style!



And so the adventure begins - your newly formed team sets out on a journey. Explore a dark world, uncover its hidden secrets, and seek a way to lift the malevolent curse.

Plot is linear, simple, and unobtrusive, designed to enhance the atmosphere rather than distract from the gameplay. This game is designed for you to enjoy the action, without being bogged down by lengthy dialogues.

The game world comprises interconnected levels, each featuring a procedurally generated path brimming with unexpected events and thrilling battles.

The main goal of each level is to find the portal to the shelter or battle a quest enemy. The branching paths offer choices on how to reach destination. At every turn, players will encounter various obstacles, including unexpected events and challenging battles.

Occasionally, events will surprise you with unexpected twists, as each has a system of alternative outcomes, considering many game aspects (team composition and traits, equipment, time of day, etc.).

With a vast number of events and hidden outcomes, the game will continuously surprise, even after many hours of exploring the world.

Outcomes

Every event has consequences. There are five main parameters that determine the outcome: Abyssal Distortion, Damage, Injury, Scouting, and Karma (occasionally, there are additional effects).

🌌 Abyssal Distortion: The curse's strength. As it accumulates, it brings severe consequences, making path increasingly difficult. For example, enemies may become stronger, or your team could suffer from a nervous breakdown.

💀 Damage/Injury: Sometimes, as a result of events, the team takes damage. In particularly dire situations, injuries may occur, significantly reducing the effectiveness of all healing.

🔍 Scouting: Future events are a mystery. You never know what awaits you until you get there. However, scouting provides a chance to gather information about upcoming events, helping you plan optimal routes.

☯️ Karma: The better your karma, the easier the events. Occasionally, something good might even happen.

COMBAT


Of course, what are these adventure without battles?

Our combat system builds on the classic turn-based JRPG foundation, but we've infused it with exciting new elements.



Sophisticated stats system that sets the game apart from others in the genre. It's more than just attack/defense... You'll never encounter two identical monsters thanks to the genetic predispositions and personalities system. Their individual traits can be enhanced with a wide array of carefully selected equipment, offering plenty of variety and strategic depth.



Battle system encourage tactical thinking and creativity. With a wide variety of attack moves, effects, and passive abilities, there's ample room for strategic maneuvering.

Additionally, fatigue plays a crucial role in your journey. Your arsenal of attack moves is limited, so it's essential to decide wisely when to use a particular ability.

This sophisticated system ensures every encounter requires careful planning, making each battle a thrilling experience.

SETTLEMENT


In this world, a few small, relatively safe settlements remain – the last strongholds of humanity. Your story begins in one of these.



This zone is filled with various structures that provide different bonuses. Some buildings can be interacted with, such as traders or storage facilities.



During expeditions, you can find materials that can be used to upgrade buildings, thereby enhancing their effects and unlocking new possibilities.

  • Evolution System. Monsters can evolve by gaining experience and meeting special conditions.

  • A wealth of events and outcomes combined with procedural generation ensures levels never get boring. The levels are so diverse that even we are some times surprised by what happens during the journey.
  • Challenge. Unlike other games in its genre, this one fights back. Adventure won't feel like a simple walk in the park, and you will experience the bitterness of defeat more than once. The challenge is not just in the tough battles and treacherous paths, but also in the economy. You'll need to squeeze the most out of difficult situations, as resources are extremely limited and always in short supply.
  • Type System. The simple truth: Fire is stronger than grass but weaker than water... Our type system is straightforward and easy to understand. But it’s not just about basic damage bonuses – types significantly influence the course of battles, opening up numerous strategic possibilities.

  • Bosses. A boss isn't just a powerful adversary but a game-changer. Levels with bosses feature unique challenges specific to them, diversifying the typical gameplay experience.
  • Design. We've strived to craft a unique dark aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the works of Lovecraft, hoping it will leave a lasting impression on your heart.
