Why Early Access?

“Primary gameplay features are implemented and the game is in a playable state, but there's still much more to include. Expect frequent new features and game breaking bugs during the Early Access phase of the game, especially in multiplayer. Issues can be brought up in the Steam Community.

Platformer is planned to be an expansive adventure game with randomly generated worlds of various sizes, difficult monsters and bosses, a large assortment of unique weapons, trinkets to expand the player's abilities, tools to shape the world, and much more.

Updates will happen periodically to add new content, fix bugs, and improve existing features. Expect occasional bugs during early access, including the very rare chance of character, inventory, or world information loss.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Platformer will be updated periodically with additional content. However, in early access important features are still being implemented such as trinkets, boss enemies, the lava core, and other vital game mechanics.

A large amount of future content is already implemented, but must be refined for gameplay. As it is being refined, the features will be released gradually. Once all the major features are complete, Platformer will no longer be considered in early access.

Music is an important feature that is being filled out, it will come in time.
There will be further updates after Platformer is released to include additional content and optimizations as well.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Gameplay will generally be the same but with more content, such as:

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“

Currently, the player can enjoy the following mechanics in Platformer:

• Single player mode
  
• Multiplayer mode
  
• Dig and place blocks
  
• Fight enemies and get loot
  
• Store and equip items from your inventory or a chest
  
• Grow trees and grass
  
• Consume items to heal
  
• Craft weapons, armor, tools, potions, furniture, blocks, walls, and other items
  
• Explore randomly generated continuous scrolling worlds
  
• Moving water physics
  
• Day/night system
  
• Light system

Fight enemies, survive the night, dig deep into the ground, equip armor and use tools to get materials to craft other items. There is currently a small selection of enemies to fight, which will be expanded upon.

Currently, hard mode cannot be enabled as the maximum depth is not yet implemented.

After release, additional content will continue to be added for free.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The cost is expected to be the same in the beginning and at the end of development.
Any early access purchasers will not have to purchase the game again after release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community may not be involved for anything other than bug reports, as future content and updates are thoroughly planned. Bugs can be reported through the community section on Steam, or on social media platforms.”
