There are no saves until a level has been completed so dying on that stage will send you back to the start so make your next moves carefully. Explore the stages and get to the end to fight the stage boss to earn your victory over the level. Once a stage is beat you will unlock one or multiple new stages. Collect Cosmetics and items throughout your adventures are bring them to the next stages or bring them back with you when you replay other stages. Theres a built in timer system for stage time and total time for those who wish to try the speedrunning side of Monkey Game. Good luck, have fun, and dont rage too much.
