The Great Exhibition ran from May to October 1851 in London's Hyde Park, in a temporary building known as the Crystal Palace. Six million visitors passed through the turnstiles, to view over 100,000 individual exhibits.

Now, over 170 years later, we are recreating the exhibition as an immersive VR experience. The simulation includes a narrator to describe each of the exhibits and the Crystal Palace building. Fire up your SteamVR system and explore the Great Exhibition...

If no VR headset present will run in fallback mode (monitor / keyboard / mouse).

Note: this is a large application and can take some time to start up.

The "mature content description" / age restrictions on this simulation are based on: (1) nudity in models of paintings and sculptures which is similar to what would typically be seen in a museum or art gallery; (2) one of the exhibits at the exhibition was a wax model of a dissected head which invokes a rating due to violence (corpses).

This is a simulation of an important historical event, intended as an educational tool, and is being provided free of charge. Because of this we permit the copying/sampling of the video content of the simulation subject to certain restrictions. This is limited to the player's headset view of the Great Exhibition ONLY (i.e. views of the virtual Hyde Park environs, the Crystal Palace Building and the contents thereof). Such samples may be utilised under creative commons BY-NC-SA. You may incorporate such samples in your own non-commercial works, as long as you include an attribution to this SteamVR application, and release under the same licence. This permission does NOT extend to images/video not owned by Hooked Wit (e.g. it excludes that owned by Steam and Unity). The software itself is subject to the usual restrictions, including (but not limited to): no reverse engineering; no distribution other than via the Steam store.
