Why Early Access?

“The feedback we’ve gotten from the demo has been incredibly valuable and has made Icaria a much better game; we want to continue making improvements driven by player feedback as we extend the game toward 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current plans for a 1.0 release should take around a year of development from when we enter Early Access. However stories can grow in the telling and we will extend Early Access if that seems like the best way to deliver a satisfying and complete game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During early access we plan to further develop the game by expanding our sandbox with new features, quality of life changes, and building end game content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All features described or shown on our Steam page (along with much more) are currently implemented, tested, and playable. In its current state Icaria has dozens of hours of content and a progression that unlocks new mechanics and ways to engage with the game over much of that time. While we haven’t finished the end yet, it’s a big sandbox and there is plenty to do.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may decide to increase the price for our 1.0 launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our demo has been public for over a year and, during that time, we have taken feedback and bug reports both from our Discord and from the Steam Community page. That feedback has resulted in 3 major updates and scores of minor updates which have dramatically improved the game. We will continue to follow much the same process through Early Access.”
