About This Game

In order to play the game, one needs to use at least Windows 10 as an operating system. Another obligation is to create 4 workspaces. In this game, the kind of positive reinforcer that is used is time. The individuals are rewarded with a free time which is positively correlated with the amount of time they have spent on the task they have chosen to do. There are 2 types of time plans provided in the Gamification Box. First one provides a flexible plan. It counts the amount of time spent on the task, whenever the individuals feel tired of working on a task, they are free to press the “Break” button. Once they have pressed the button, the game switches the current desktop environment to the next desktop environment which is located on the right. The amount of time they are rewarded is the same amount of time that they have spent on the task. Once the time is finished, the desktop environment changes back to the one on the left, and working session continues counting the amount of time spent on the task. The individuals do not necessarily need to spend the whole time they have earned during the break session. They can switch back to working session any time they wish, and this is one of the biggest strengths of the Gamification Box, it provides more flexibility to the working sessions.
The second type of time plan is a less flexible plan than the first one. The users are required to input the amount of time they wish to study, and the amount of time they wish to take a break in a session. After every work session, the users are rewarded with a certain activity for the amount of time they have typed in. For instance, the user may choose to watch a film, then, the film is instantly played after a certain auditory cue and a change of desktop environment. Once the time reserved for the break time is finished, the film automatically pauses, and the desktop environment returns back to the work desktop environment.
