Utilize Alien Research Experts equipment
You're not alone on this mission. You will have different tools at your disposal that will be very useful to determine the type of alien. From a walkie talkie that allows you to hear their voices if they are close, to the typical ultraviolet light to try to find their tracks. You will also be able to upgrade your equipment the more investigator level you get.
