Miksi Early Access?

Now that there's something close to a playable core, I'd like to transition to Early Access in order to let the community guide the development of the game. As a solo developer, this will help me make more informed decisions about which features and content to invest in and which to set aside.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

Approximately 3 years.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

The short-term roadmap, which I think is achievable for an "Episode 1" full release, includes:
  • 8-hour Story campaign--think GTA
  • Hundreds of procedural courier jobs--think Truck Simulator
  • 3 acquirable flying car types
  • Customize your car with colors, decals, extra equipment, and interior decoration
  • Customize your garage, design your own logo for your courier business
  • 10 key districts, each containing at least 1 point of interest for story missions
  • Hack into terminals found throughout the city to build your control over the GRID

Longer term, if I were lucky enough to generate interest enough to support building a small team for a larger scope Episode 2:
  • Ability to jump out in mid-air and hijack other vehicles (major expense here is VR -- creating all the interiors would be a huge investment)
  • Other vehicle types including hoverbikes and hoverboards (imagine using a poon gun to latch onto cars and surf through traffic like YT)
  • Other game mechanics when on foot, including hacking and inventory puzzling
  • More characters and deeper conversation system

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

Current version only contains 2 gameplay loops: 1. take jobs from garage, run them, earn money, and 2. use money to upgrade car. All art is placeholder, and all narrative content is subject to change.

Muuttuuko pelin hinta Early Access -vaiheen jälkeen?

We will likely not raise the price significantly through Early Access, but will increase the price when we leave Early Access with a full release offering.

Miten yhteisö otetaan mukaan kehitysprosessiin?

I can't wait to get significant community input. I will be grateful and eager to consider any and all feedback, but as always, the feedback must be constructive and come from a clear place of shared love for the vision. If interest were high enough, I would love a crowd-funded stakeholder framework for the community, with voting on roadmap priorities, personalized rewards, etc.

In a sprawling futuristic megacity, you are a GRID RUNNER - one of the few who can operate a hacked flying car, able to break the oppressive traffic control system known as the GRID. Until recently, you were employed by the criminal Syndicate as an illegal courier and transporter. Now, you're a free agent, on the wrong side of both the cops and the underworld. Your only chance is to do the thing you do best: drive.

Because of the GRID traffic surveillance and control system, if you head straight for the clouds you'll be spotted and shut down in a microsecond. You'll need to hide in plain sight within the skylanes of the city. Hidden in the throng, you'll be free to hit speeds exceeding 500 MPH - as long as your reflexes are sharp enough to dodge the traffic.

Key features and game experiences include:

  • Game has been developed with VR as the focus--top-notch atmosphere and comfort in seated VR (note: only Oculus hardware supported at present)
  • Use Touch controllers to tap your car's dash controls while you drive
  • Take jobs from the job computer in your garage
  • Earn money, and use that money to purchase upgrades for your car
  • You can drive conservatively, or go for pinpoint accuracy by narrowly passing other cars to earn speed boosts and bonus money
  • Story and worldbuilding delivered via NPC characters and car radio content
  • Dynamic time of day and weather systems including rain and lightning
  • Add your own MP3s to create a custom playlist on the car stereo
