What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The more feedback the game gets the better it will become. I know that listening to players during development will help make improvements to Rhythm Dodge, and I plan to add new content, test new features, listen to player feedback and refine the game experience throughout Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The roadmap will remain flexible so that I can respond to players' thoughts and feedback, which may have an impact on the development roadmap. I hope to be able to release the game out of Early Acces during the summer of 2024. My goal will always be to make the game a challenging and enjoyable experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I feel like Rhythm Dodge is at a great point in development for players to begin to experience the gameloop and start playing. But there is still much more to come and I'm planning to add more features and content throughout Early Access, including:

New levels.
Many more player skins, trails and colors.
Level leaderboards.
A community level editor (with Steam Workshop implementation).
Tweaked & refined game design iterated on through community feedback.
Additional language support.

Of course, these are just some of the things on the game's roadmap right now, and I am keen to keep community feedback in mind throughout development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I plan to update the Early Access version with new features and content, but right now the Early Access version contains:

A few playable levels.
A settings menu with the option to rebind keyboard controls.
Keyboard / (Partial) Controller support.
Personal highscores.
Player customization.
A prototype level editor.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect the price to increase as we transition out of Early Access and into full release, due to the final game having more content and being a more stable, rounded experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am planning to listen very closely to what the community is saying throughout development, taking players’ comments and feedback onboard to help refine the game, prioritize content and develop new features. As well as listening to player feedback on the Steam forums and social media, I would love our Early Access players to join the games Discord, where we will have dedicated feedback channels for bug reports and suggestions from the community. I am really keen for players to get started and listen to what they have to say.”

About This Game

Rhythm Dodge is a retro styled music based game where instead of hitting notes on the rhythm of the music you have to dodge them. You play as two sides that you control independently. Making you test your eye-hand coordination.

Move through varying patterns in levels with a variety of music, difficulty and colors while taking control of 2 sides, which you can decorate with unlockable skins, trails and colors, to beat your highscores. You only have a limited amount of hits you can take before you have to start over, so keep a lookout for healing items spread throughout the levels.

The game features plenty of accessibility options, allowing you to rebind keys, disable visual effects such as screenshake and enable toggled lane switching.

Once you are ready, head into the level select, where for a more challenging experience you can increase the speed of the level you want to play for a major score bonus.

The game features a level editor where you can create custom levels with your own music which you can publish on the game’s steam workshop page, to be played by fellow players. Let your creativity run wild!
