What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

““The truth is simple: we’re an indie studio and we want to make this game together with you. Early Access gives us the breathing room to keep developing, but more importantly, it gives us the chance to hear directly from players what works and what doesn’t in Goldilock One. We want that when the game is ready you’ll look at it and say: ‘man, this turned out awesome!’ — and know that you were part of it.””

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

““How long? That may vary depending on how things go after launch! But we expect it to be between 6 months and a year. We’ll keep updating with new content, polishing what’s already there, and adjusting everything with your help until the game is in great shape. We don’t want to rush things, but we’re not going to drag it out either. Regardless of how long it takes, development is split into stages — each update will add new areas and enemies until we reach the full scope.””

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

““The full version will be bigger, deeper, and packed with much more to explore. More areas, more unique monsters, expanded crafting, more quests, and more NPCs that can be unlocked as playable characters. Early Access is already a complete experience, but that ‘I want more’ feeling is something we plan to renew with every update. So by the time the final version arrives, anyone following the updates will always have something new to play.””

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

““Right now, we have a reduced version of the final game, but with almost all of the core mechanics already implemented: two combat instances (axe / gauntlet & shield), crafting and survival systems are working, the starting open world area is explorable, and resource management is already important — both natural resources and the crystals that are key to building your character. There’s already a full single-player experience, plus some co-op modes that will be expanded over time. We’ve even got a preliminary PVP system, where you can invite your friends to play locally with split-screen or through Remote Play and test who’s got the sharper builds and strategies. Of course, there’s still optimization, balance and more content on the way, but it’s already fun and gives a solid taste of what the final game will be.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

““Yes! The price will go up as we add more content. So if you want to pay less and support the project early, jump in now. Think of it as a discounted pre-release, but without the smoke and mirrors. With each major update that brings new areas and enemies, the price will increase a little — but don’t worry: if you already own the game, you’ll get everything that’s on the roadmap at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

““We want you right there with us. Feedback on the Steam forums, conversations on Discord, suggestions on social media — all of it. Community feedback is what got us this far, and without it we wouldn’t have even come close. We’ll keep sharing what we’re working on, listening to what you want, and whenever possible, finding solutions together. At the end of the day, Goldilock One is a living project that keeps evolving as we better understand what you expect from the game.””

About This Game

Goldilock One: The Mists of Jakaira is an action RPG that transports the player to a prison on the darkest and coldest side of a distant planet. Survive massive battles, form alliances, and find answers to your exile in this hostile and unforgiving environment.

Explore and Face the Dangers of Nebegarde

The inhospitable open-air prison on the icy side of a distant planet, where the worst criminals are sent with their memories erased. Venture forth and immerse yourself in a dense plot filled with dilemmas and choices that will reveal the different faces of a reality previously unknown as you seek to understand the reason for your own exile.

Master Combat

With combat requiring strategy and skill, Goldilock One offers a unique blend of hack 'n' slash against multiple enemies and more paced moments with challenging foes that will demand more self-preservation.

Form Alliances

Develop relationships with various NPCs; depending on your decisions, some may join your adventure as companions. Switch control between them in real-time, accessing unique challenges and previously inaccessible areas.

Survive

Gather and loot resources to be used in crafting recipes that can be completed with NPCs. If managed well, your results can bring advantages to your journey, including potions, food, and even equipment.

Upgrade Your Gear

Use N'skita Crystals to imbue your equipment with special properties. Insert them into available sockets and witness the results—both in the attributes of your gear (damage type, defense, etc.) and in the visual effects seen in your attacks.

Face Unique Enemies

Challenge creatures ranging from native beings of a new planet to genetically modified creatures and even futuristic machines. Encounter creations inspired by mythological elements from various cultures and Brazilian folklore.

Venture Solo or in Cooperation

Take on this challenge alone or enjoy party moments by inviting a friend to join in split-screen with local or online multiplayer (via Remote Play Together).

Open World and Exploration: Nebegarde is a vast territory full of dangers and mysteries. Explore varied environments, discover secrets, and forge alliances with NPCs to increase your chances of survival.

Party System and Cooperation: Control different members of your group, each with unique abilities that can be combined to overcome challenges and solve complex puzzles.

Unique Graphics and Design: A visual style that mixes realistic elements with cel-shaded stylized art, evoking the aesthetic of graphic novels and comic books.

Dynamic Narrative and Dilemma System: Your decisions shape the world around you. The game's dilemma system offers multiple ways to complete quests and solve puzzles, with outcomes that deeply affect the story's progression.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Gameplay consists of frequent combat scenarios with characters using their weapon to slash enemies. Some larger enemies are opened up to intense finishing moves showing enemies being ripped apart, dismembered, or decapitated.

Strong Language is used in the dialogue.
