Blackout Memphis is a gritty action game that thrives on its high speed, challenging difficulty level and demanding soundtrack of electronic music in a world full of violence. The action is set in an alternative Memphis in the early 2000s.
You take on the role of an ordinary family man, who has to cope with the difficulties of his exhausting job, the challenges of
of a long-term marriage to a luxury-pampered wife, and raising an extroverted teenage daughter. Constant news coverage of the increasing violence in Memphis, financial difficulties, and the mounting problems of everyday life are taking their toll on the family man. After he is tormented by insomnia on the one hand and by cruel nightmares in the few and short moments of sleep on the other hand every day of his life, and increasingly frequent memory lapses make his normal daily life impossible, he seeks psychological treatment.
While the medication takes effect over time and family life slowly calms down again, the city sinks into a blood-red wave of violence. Every day new murders and bloody gang crime. There is no end to the number of victims. Increasingly frequent nightly power outages unsettle the population. No one is safe anymore. Why don't the authorities care? But it is not only in Memphis that something is wrong. Is everything really as it seems?

Every shot kills. Every punch kills you. Every defeat takes you back to the start, while the soundtrack drives you to take on the challenge again.

  • Fast-paced gunplay in abandoned construction ruins, neon-colored clubs, underground casinos, and many other locations of the dark Memphis underworld
  • Fast electronic synthwave music and techno beats drive the gameplay
  • Deadly combat against a variety of gangsters and bosses from the Memphis underworld
  • A dark plot full of violence and an almost crushing hopelessness
  • The backstory is told through a variety of dialogues with the main character's family, the main character's psychologist and a host of minor
  • characters including fast food restaurants, video stores, mall stores or answering machine messages in between action-packed game levels
  • As the game progresses, different animal masks can be unlocked to disguise the main character's identity. Per level, an already unlocked mask can be selected from a gallery to give the player a special trait or change the look of the game.
  • A wide arsenal of deadly melee and ranged weapons is available to the player per level. Everything from a crowbar to an assault rifle can be used against the gangsters
  • Melee weapons can be thrown to stun the opponent. The fate of the opponent lying on the ground and stunned can be defeated with a finishing move
  • A point system shows the player's skill per level in a school score
  • In the fast-paced battles, attacking and killing opponents in quick succession as combos can increase the high score
