Why Early Access?

“Early Access is necessary for Cryspace as I plan to release much more content for the game down the line, and I desire to develop this game alongside community feedback to create an immersive experience from start-to-finish. Technically, while the game that will be released in Early Access could be considered a full title with a lengthy, non-linear story (with the optional Full Game DLC), Early Access feels more appropriate as I intend to develop not only at least a couple more story-lines, but also add features such as custom stories, further customization, and more.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm planning for a release out of Early Access within the next few weeks/months after Cryspace's release, particularly when I've implemented all of the quality of life features that I currently have in mind (as well as taking into account any suggestions that the community might have). Once the game has these QoL features, and the Steam Workshop feature fully implemented, the game will be out of Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will differ from the Early Access version in the sense that it will have the Steam Workshop feature (for editing custom stories, downloading them, etc.). The full version will also have many minor features and improvements that the Early Access version does not, particularly, based off of community feedback, and iterating on aspects of the game heavily during this period.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the game allows you to play as either a male or a female protagonist. You are able to date Sam Winters (or Samuel Winters, depending on gender selection). Their story contains several branching paths, over eighty different endings, and many various conflicts/events that can arise during a playthrough.

The free version of the game allows you to experience the first two dates with Sam which, during one playthrough, may take up to 60 minutes to complete. The free version also contains some endings, and several branching paths in its own right. The paid version (available with the Full Game DLC) contains all eighty endings, and owners of the full game can expect to be able to play through the entire story, and experience all of the branching paths from day one. The average playthrough time (if you were to play the story once) with the DLC is approximated at 3-6 hours dependent on decisions made throughout the game, and offers much in terms of replayability.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the game itself is free. The available Full Game DLC (which will grant you access to Sam's full story and the full stories of any other characters that may be released down the line) will also never increase in price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is vital to the development of Cryspace both during this Early Access period and afterwards. I plan to listen to the community closely, and make changes based off of community recommendations consistently. Players are encouraged to post in the Community Forums for the game, where I will be actively reading and responding to posts.”
