Why Early Access?

“I want Running Riot to encourage and reward players for experimenting with new abilities and upgrade paths, and Early Access seems like a great way to collaborate with players on what excites them most. The core of the game is there, but now I'd like to build a community around iteration and feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect this game to be in Early Access for 4-6 months. I'm getting married and moving across the country in the middle of the year, so I expect the game to be ready around September.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to work on more content, including more playable classes, levels, enemies, and abilities.

In terms of features, I would like to implement some new room types that I think should challenge the players in ways they haven't seen in twin-stick shooters so far.

Essentially, what I'm hoping to do is build out tons of content and polish now that there's a solid core.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has 1 playable character, 8 rooms, and 36 upgrades, plenty of paths to explore!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This game will cost the same during and after Early Access. I'm hoping that players will hop in for the chance to help direct development and show their interest.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I've got a Discord that I hope to use to foster conversations about the game. I'd like to talk about interesting builds people try, things they want to see, and of course fix bugs as soon as possible. My experience is in software engineering, so my hope is to show the community that their input is acted on right away.”
