About This Game

Hello everyone.

This is a hard one for me, so I'm just going to cut to the chase.

I'm cancelling "Spectre's Library" until further notice.

There are several reasons for this, but the main reason I'm doing this is I've lost inspiration to work on it. I've come up with a plan for the next several games I'm going to make and I've thought a LOT about the overall story I'm going to tell. While "Spectre's Library" was originally on that list of future games, it isn't now. The game just... doesn't fit right with the rest of them, and I don't like that. HOWEVER- that doesn't necessarily mean that it's gone forever. We may come back to it at some point, but because of how everything is going, I'm not sure if that'll happen.

Like I said, there's a lot of reasons for me cancelling it, but I'll go through some of the other major ones:

-It's not enticing, ESPECIALLY the demo. At the time that I made the demo, I thought that it was perfect just the way it was and that it'd hook people. Looking back, that's completely false. The only thing that seems really interesting is the Goners, and they weren't even main characters!

-It's boring and confusing. The demo is not a game, it's a poorly designed fetch-quest that leads into ANOTHER poorly designed fetch-quest. There's barely any information given on who you're playing as or why they're there or what the hell is going on, and I've seen people wander the map looking for answers and/or quit out of boredom or rage. I don't think that's fair to anyone to have to go through that. On top of that, seeing people quit out of boredom, confusion, or rage is incredibly demotivating. ESPECIALLY if I agree with them.

-I just don't like it anymore. There isn't a big explanation for this, I've just thought about it a lot and after seeing what people think, I don't really like it anymore and I wish I had done things with this game differently.

I really wish that I could finish this game, but I just have no ambition to anymore. I'll probably reuse the ideas I had for it elsewhere, but they won't be connected to this game at all.

I'm so sorry for anyone that happened to be interested in seeing the full game. We tried our best, but we just didn't win this one, and the best thing to do would be to put it out of its and everyone else's misery. Like I said, we might come back to it, but with everything going on chances are slim.

But, with this knowledge in hand, I will work hard to make sure that my future games are put together well and do not suffer the same fate as this one. I hope everyone will stick around to see them!

Anyway, that's it from me.

I hope everyone is having a great day!!

We'll see you next time!

-Matt
