What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Factor Y has been in development since late 2020 and is currently in a very good and playable state.
It still changes and improves a lot with every update.
I'd love to get feedback regarding new ideas and possible improvements.
That's why I decided to make an Early Access release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“While there are multiple features I consider critical for a full release, I'm not solely focusing on implementing those.
I want to generally improve Factor Y and release it once I think it's in a good enough state and not changing too much anymore.
I expect the EA phase of Factor Y to certainly extend through 2023, likely even 2024.
This also highly depends on your feedback and feature requests during EA, since I'd love to add good ideas to it.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There's going to be many more intermediate recipes, more base resources and a better progression towards the late game. Including better balance regarding technology unlocks and recipes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Factor Y is currently in a very good and playable state.
I implemented the features I considered critical for leaving EA and could generally switch to a full release at any time.
With that said, I'm still adding major features and will only end the EA phase once I consider the game to be relatively stable.
Please note that there's no Steam Cloud support.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect the price of Factor Y to gradually increase during Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm already maintaining both a Discord server and a subreddit to post about the development progress and to receive your feedback.
I also plan on using the Steam Community tools in the future.”

About This Game

Factor Y is a relaxing, large-scale, multi-planetary, mega factory automation game.
Mine resources, craft new items and structures via recipes and generate your own, custom building blocks.
Expand your factory to span across multiple planets.

There's also a demo of Factor Y which offers all the features of the full game except for the ability to load games.
With the demo you can freely test the entire game and pick up where you left once you decide to get the full version (you'll have to manually copy the savegames).

Use miners combined with arms and belts to extract the planet's natural resources to feed your factory's ever-growing hunger.

With the help of furnaces you can turn raw ores into plates.

Use assemblers to craft basic items from plates.

Which then serve as input for more complex recipes. Craft new structures such as belts and arms to further expand your factory.

Unlock new technologies to increase your factory's throughput and size and to unlock more useful structures.

Use the planner feature to create custom blueprints.

Which can then be turned into new buildings blocks (modules) for your factory. This way you can create new, custom assemblers which may support any recipe.
You can even use your previously generated modules when planning new ones.

Use your custom modules to further expand your factory. There's more than enough 'space' left.

Colonize new planets and transfer resources between them to connect their factories.
