What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is still a work in progress with the core mechanics, 5 classes, and 3 maps with plans for additional classes, maps, enemies, etc but before continuing to add new content I would like to make the current version available to let players try it out and provide feedback so changes to systems, mechanics, and balancing, as well as bug fixes can be made ahead of finalizing the additional content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I hope to have the game in EA for a period of less than 6 months, possibly quite a bit less, depending on the amount of changes I decide to implement based on feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The 5 current classes are what I consider the "Tier 1" classes. I plan on adding an additional set of 5-10 "Tier 2" classes which will be unlocked by reaching certain goals, which may be added either by or shortly after full release. I also plan to add an additional 3-5 maps during Early Access, each of these maps containing new types of mobs and mechanics not seen in the existing maps.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is fully playable and has 5 classes each with 2 weapons/skills (a primary and secondary). The classes are:

Archer
Warrior
Rogue
Mage
Priest

Upgrades can be purchased for gold for both primary and secondary after selecting your desired class, and additional upgrades to your base stats and your primary weapon/skill can be gained by leveling up during each run.

The game currently consists of 3 maps / levels:

Meadow - The 1st map which is a pretty straightforward survive for 30 minutes lvel with 2 mini-bosses and a final boss. Completing the level with a class unlocks the next map for that class.

Cave - Still a pretty straightforward 30 minute survival map but with 4 mini-bosses and an additional mechanic where an altar becomes active when each mini-boss spawns. Failure to deactivate the altar in time causes that mini-boss to spawn again during the final boss fight making it more difficult, but also allowing you to earn additional experience and gold if you prefer. Completing the Cave with a class will unlock the 3rd map for that class.

Labyrinth - The 3rd map which consists of a maze that you must navigate through while fighting off enemies and working your way to the final room with your reward and a boss fight consisting of 4 different elemental guardians with unique attacks. While navigating through the maze a magical sentient portal can appear and hunt you down. Kill it while dodging its attempts to hit you. Getting hit by the portal will teleport you back to the start of the maze (you do not lose anything, you just have to find your way back through).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Currently I plan to keep the price the same for both EA and full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will be monitoring feedback & reviews posted in Steam as well as making an email address (werkhousegames@gmail.com) available for players to reach out directly with feedback and bug reports. I will also likely open a Discord channel / server for the game as I get closer to the full release.”

About This Game

Discvivors is a timed survival, bullet hell, roguelite game which grows more and more intense over time each run. Enemies become more numerous, more varied, faster, do more damage, have more health, and their projectiles also move faster.

One of the things that sets Discvivors apart from many similar games is it's focus on more of an RPG style of progression vs reliance on random drops/unlocks each run. The game consists of several classes which each have a primary and secondary weapon/skill. When selecting your class, you can also purchase upgrades for Gold (dropped from enemies) which are permanent and can improve the power and effects of both primary and secondary weapons/skills. These upgrades are unique to each class and consist of things like more projectiles, more damage, faster attacks, larger projectiles, increased procs & bonus effects, etc.

Along with the permanent upgrades, as you play through each run and gain experience you will gain levels. Each level up allows you to pick from temporary (until the end of the current run) upgrades to things such as move speed, attack speed of your primary attack, damage of your primary attack, armor, health, healing amount, and pickup radius of items. All of these options are available at each level up, no RNG, so you have the freedom to build to your desired playstyle each run, and there are currently no limits on the amount of points you can put into each of these upgrades.

You may start out feeling slow and weak, but over the course of the first few runs you will begin collecting enough gold to purchase your first few permanent upgrades for the class you want to play and progress further and further each run. Progressing further means more gold and more upgrades. Continue growing stronger over time and unleash arrow, axe, dagger, fireball, and holy hell on your enemies!
