What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Rise & Fall: Bronze Age only has playable factions in Egypt for the moment. This leaves dozens of hours of gameplay and hundreds of events for players to experience. But this is only a portion of what we want to offer with this game. Early Access allows us to get feedback from a much larger number of players than our demo.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This will depend on how long it takes us to research and write the narrative chains for the other regions of the game for all the starting dates. And creating music and art for the different cultures. All in all, we hope to finish the game within two year, with more or less 6 months depending on the support of the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The gameplay will change little between now and the final version. The main additions will be:
-add the start dates of 1750BC, 1600BC and 1450BC as unlockable
-make playable the factions in southern Mesopotamia(by making playable, it means own UI, historical events and musics for those factions): the Sumerians, the Akkadians and the Babylonians
-make playable the factions in Elam: the Elamites and the Lullubis
-make playable the factions in Northern Mesopotamia: the Assyrians, the Mariites and the Hurrians
-make playable the factions in Northern Canaan: the Eblaites, the Amorites and the Syrians
-make playable the factions in Canaan: the Canaanites and the Phoenicians
-make playable the factions in Eastern Anatolia: the Hittites and the Hattians
-make playable the factions in Western Anatolia: the Luwians, the Mycenaeans and the Minoans
-improve the AI
-improve some aspects of the gameplay, especially the late mechanics (standing army, etc)
Each time a new region is made playable, it will result in slightly different gameplay, narrative events, interface elements and music that will make these new scenarios unique for players to discover.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“-the factions in Egypt are playable with content up to 1800BC
-the start dates are unlockable up to the one of 1900BC
-15 minutes of music to travel the banks of the Nile
-a save system
-basic AI”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is not finished yet, so its price will not be the same between now and when its finished. We plan to increase the price by half of the current price at end of Early Access. The price will increase at each big updates that add a new region to play. But the people who bought the game before those increase of price will not be impacted.”

Several millennia have passed since the beginnings of agriculture. The Fertile Crescent regions have gradually seen the emergence of new societies. For the first time, humans grow to groups of thousands and eventually formed cities. Thus were born the first states and with them, trade, but also war.

A dynamic and realistic technological system

Ideas appear according to specific triggers, state technologies can also be forgotten...

The World of the Fertile Crescent

A dynamic world where civilization will spread from Egypt and Sumer to the rest of Mesopotamia and the Levant.

The resource of the rulers: their population

An economic system based not on resource-producing buildings, but on populations that realistically evolve through years, wars, epidemics and periods of prosperity.

A game of civilization and survival

Your state must seem legitimate according to your culture. Let that legitimacy hit zero and you lose the game. Build temples, win wars and build monuments to raise it. You will have to manage your elites and be sure to maintain their loyalty.

A world of constant difficulty

Small kingdoms and huge empires don't play the same. Try to expand and survive as a small nation, using warfare and diplomacy as you primary tools. Maintain your rule as a huge empire, with your scheming elites, foreign clergies and populations who don't want your rule, and dreams of liberty.

Fourteen startdates, from 3400BC to 1450BC

Unify the chiefdoms of Egypt, take sides in the war between Horus and Set, see the rise and fall of the Old Kingdom or rule as the New Kingdom and conquer Nubia and the Levant.
