Why Early Access?

“Since our successful Kickstarter campaign in October 2022, we promised our community that they will be a part of our development. Releasing this Early Access to our World Builder and later on adding the Game Play mode with the VTT, will give the opportunity to each and every one of you to have fun creating scenes for any TTRPG, but also comment and give feedback so that we can improve this project as much as possible to suit your preferences. We are in this together!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our team will be delivering monthly updates until everything that was promised (and a lot more) will be delivered. The team is positive that by Q4 2023 our Kickstarter promises will be implemented leading to a Beta release. The full release should be expected between Q4 2023 and Q1 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of RPG Stories, we plan to expand the world builder’s tools and add a lot more models, for all 3 TTRPG Eras we already support, and new export choices. In addition, it is in our priorities and we already work on supporting the steam workshop and adding a multiplayer VTT so that the players can connect and play tabletop RPGs online.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“With this Early Access, you will get your hands on our massive World Builder. More than 3000 3d models are implemented so far, giving you the ability to build hundreds of indoor and outdoor environments for all three major TT RPG Eras; Medieval Fantasy, Modern, and Sci-Fi.

You are able to build with auto or manual ways, write your own quests, export everything in one quest file, and share it with your friends or export your worlds into 2D images to use them in other VTTs. In addition, you will be getting updates every month with new features and new 3D models.
Always remember our export files have commercial-free usage!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the Early Access price is at discount. Once the multiplayer VTT is delivered we will set the final price of RPG Stories. Also, keep in mind that since this project addresses TTRPG players, we decided to also release the Player Version which will be more affordable than the current one (the GM Version). The Player Version will not include the world builder part of the project and will be used by players who only wish to create their TTRPG Characters and then join an online game and play. This way the overall cost for a TTRPG party is reduced.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This Early Access is aiming into exactly this. We want our community to be part of our development and be able to speak up. We take under consideration all the comments and reviews we see on our social media and on steam. In addition to that, we do polls in our discord server where all who own RPG Stories are allowed to vote on features shaping our design.

When asked if we have Fog of War, we answer that this won't be enough. RPG Stories will have all the well-known VTT Features like Fog of War, Dynamic Lights, Weather System, Light Sources, 3D Dice, Environmental Lighting, and...well the list is vast!

We want RPG Stories to become the Community's VTT and that is why we made the following decisions:

1. The GM version includes All the features, world-building tools, VTT/multiplayer, and the ability to create their TTRPG Characters. This is perfect for Game Masters and people who want to get creative!
The Player version is a stripped-down version that does Not include the World-building tools. This version will be available by summer when the big update with the multiplayer will come! Perfect for more casual players!
2. All our exports will always be Commercial-Free.

Early Access Status: The GM Version (Only the Worldbuilder), Commercial Free License to use 2D images wherever you want & RPGs file exports (.rpgs).
Final Version: GM Version (Worldbuilder & VTT/multiplayer), Player Version, Commercial Free License to all exports (2D exports for other VTTs).
