The King's Pup Levels Up

When the King and all his people disappear, his favourite puppy becomes the Kingdom's only hope! Now empowered with a golden sword, Humphrey must explore beyond the kingdom walls to find his long lost royal owner. But the land is riddled with enchanted enemies, so Humphrey will have to level up fast...or the throne will remain empty forever.

Cavalier is an open platformer/Metroidvania, challenging but never too punishing. You'll want to cuddle your controller, not throw it against the wall. It's a story-driven experience that also allows for - and rewards - exploration. A handcrafted, living cartoon that touches on silliness but always defaults to heart and story.

This has all the elements players love about the classics of the genre - an interconnected world with hidden paths, a growing map, ability upgrades, soft locks on early game areas - but it's set apart by its focus on story beats that happen precisely when they mean to.

Everything in the King's land is hand drawn, so it's like playing your way through a nostalgic animated film. The colours are bright and cheery, but that doesn't mean Humphrey's journey won't be treacherous!

Combat Enchanted Creatures and Slay Beastly Bosses

All the King's people are gone...but the palace walls and rolling hills are crawling with inanimate objects brought to life! From fire-spitting lanterns, to stained glass knights, to venomous snapping plants. There are rumours of the King's obsession with digging up dragon bones...and the thought of a reanimated dragon skeleton sends shivers up Humphrey's fluffy spine!

Weapons range from your initial golden sword, a woodman's axe, a heavy grandhammer, and a bowcaster for ranged combat. Each weapon not only brings the boom, but also allows you to access new areas and smash various obstacles.

The King was a complex character before he vanished...he loved his people, and his puppy above all else, but he also had a dangerous fascination with long-forgotten magic. This history was being rapidly uncovered in recent years. Revealing the truth of your beloved King/owner is at the heart of the story, and will lead to some grand revelations!
