About This Game

Critias Empire is a 4X Turn-Based Strategy game where you build your empire without war, combat and rival civilizations. Instead danger comes from Disasters rained down by the Gods of Olympus.

This is a game for those who like the empire building of 4X games, as opposed to war and conflict, but still want a challenging dynamic world to play in.

In Critias Empire, the ancient Gods are vengeful and scheming. They will rain disasters down on your civilization, altering the map as volcanoes spew lava, floods wash away the land and earthquakes cause mountains to rise and crumble.

Each God has their own personality, desires and their own signature disaster. Give too much attention to Zeus and Poseidon may get angry, washing away your coastal settlements with a terrible storm!

Critias Empire rewards those who plan carefully or are quick to adapt. As disasters unfold, the changing map will present you with opportunities and dangers as you build your empire from humble beginnings into a mighty civilization:

Transport - Bind your empire together and allow it to flourish by connecting far flung lands and distant cities. Build a network of roads and sea routes, which in turn boosts production and allows your empire to flourish. Plan for the worst and create resilient networks as disasters can cut your transport links, turning them from a strength to a vulnerability.

Oracle - Call upon the mystics and soothsayers of your empire to divine the true intentions of the Gods. Pray to the Gods to intercede in times of trouble, or use your favour with the Gods to predict where disaster will strike and plan accordingly.

Festivals - Appease the Gods and delight your citizens with extravagent celebrations. Organise Festivals to boost empire production, but never forget the cost can, like a bad hangover, last well beyond the end of the festivities.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Critias Empire uses images of public domain 18th and 19th century classical oil on canvas paintings, but since there are only a limited number of these, AI generated images are used where no appropriate historical public domain image can be found. This includes backgrounds, illustrations for buildings, features, disasters, maps and characters, plus live ops, events and marketing material.

The images are generated using paid subscription to Midjourney. Crystalline Green Ltd. owns the copyright on the generated images.

We are a small independent studio with limited budget, but we appreciate not everyone is comfortable with use of AI generated images in commercial games, so we understand if you would prefer not to play our game. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions or concerns.
