And before Robert can place one last trade, he wakes up somewhere else.

Between Candles and Dreams (Prologue) is the opening chapter of the full game. story-driven RPG where the emotions of trading—greed, fear, euphoria, despair—take physical form. Charts become magic, candlestick patterns become skills, and the “market” is a living world that reacts to every step you take.

You play as Robert, a worn-down trader pulled into a surreal realm built from his own watchlists and worries. To get home, he must travel through strange lands shaped by market moods: the Liquidity Swamps where losses cling like mud, the frantic cliffs of Options Canyon, the desperate ledges of Margin Cliffs, and the towering Exchange Citadel at the center of it all.

Along the way, you’ll battle embodiment-of-the-market monsters like Naked Shorters, Volatility Wraiths, Fibonacci Serpents, and Circuit Breaker Golems. Defeat special foes to absorb their unique “pattern skills,” turning classic chart formations into spells and techniques. Seek out hidden tomes to learn legendary spells that can bend the rules of combat or find lyric books to unlock music with additional lore. 

Not every creature is an enemy. You’ll meet curious Market Spirits who can join your party, support you in battle, or alter your build with passive buffs and combo abilities.

Campfires scattered across the world act as checkpoints where you can rest, save, and reflect. Fall in battle and you’ll wake back at your last campfire—your body intact, your skills intact, but some of your precious in-game “capital” lost to the shadows of the market. Every journey outward is a balance between pushing further and protecting what you’ve earned.

You don’t need to know anything about trading to enjoy the game. The references are there if you get them—but at its heart, Between Candles and Dreams is about facing your fears, learning from failure, and getting back up when the world tells you to quit.
