What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'd like to release the game in Early Access not only as a teaser for the game, but also to gather feedback on things like mechanics, game feel, story, accessibility, etc. Generally, I believe the game can become better by being in Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Ideally, no longer than a year, but it may take two years. It's hard to say how "done" the game is now, but work for it gets completed every week, even if it's a small amount. A huge chunk of the art is done, as well as the story, and the soundtrack entirely complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access will include beta versions and "previews" of mechanics, and only about 3 chapters out of about 10 worth of story. This is to give people a "taste" of the game before we finalize any gameplay elements or story elements and we're hoping the final version will be much longer and feel way more vast.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This version of the Early Access includes the initial gathering/crafting mechanics, and the next version will include an updated form of that. Hopefully, with some new and exciting gameplay elements!

I work on the game at least once a week, whether it be art or story writing. My next big goal is to complete the entirety of the story.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version will be free, because it is not a complete game yet. The final version of the game will *not* be free, and the price will be determined by how long and how big the game ends up being.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm hoping people who try out this version will leave suggestions or their thoughts in reviews (or ideally, in the discussion tab) and we can implement ideas we think fit. We are a small team, so it's very easy to have oversight and miss stuff-- plus, sometimes there's just an idea we didn't think of!

I've been very surprised by how thoughtful the Steam community can be, so I'm hopeful folks will bring respectful and in depth discussion to the game, and came help shape the game into something really cool.

Also, it's simply just nice to have folks tell me if there's a spelling or grammar error because it can be hard to catch those with my current set up, haha.”

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The main sex scenes are between two, cis male characters. The side sex scenes are between a trans fem character and males, females, non-binaries, etc. Many scenes contain depictions of consensual BDSM play, which include things like being tied up, being talked down to, etc. There are also voyeuristic and exhibitionist elements, as well as sex outdoors or in public spaces.

About This Game

NOTICE: This game is currently in development! Our first Early Access version should be coming out by the end of this month! Please look forward to it!

Solanaceae: After All is a casual visual novel and gathering/crafting game hybrid with a major focus on story, character interactions, and watching sexy scenes! It will hopefully be an easy to pick up game, where you enjoy the story at your own pace, brew interesting potions and cook cute things, and hunt down and watch some very sexy scenes if you choose to do so. This game is queer, trans, and very, very indulgent.

Join Battam, a witch exiled by all conventional covens, on his quest to make a brand new type of coven with the help of his partner Sal, and his sibling, Satine. Explore a colorful world filled with all types of people and try to create a place where any and all rejected witches can join together to create new kinds of magic, and form bonds that will last a lifetime. Grow ever closer to Battam's loving and long term partner, Sal, learn more about Battam's sibling Satine and watch them repair their shaky relationship, meet new people that challenge Battam's beliefs, and discover new ways that magic interacts with with the world-- all while fighting back against the overbearing Rowan Coven who is trying to stop any and all of Battam's progress!

This game contains R-18 scenes, with the option to opt out entirely in the beginning of the game for a strictly PG-13 version, if that is what you prefer.

About the Creator
Hi! I'm DCS! I'm a queer comic artist and game dev who is incredibly passionate about these characters and world. I've been working with them for many years now, and I feel like this game is going to be such a good way to enjoy them if you like them already-- or are totally new to them. Don't feel shy in looking up Solanaceae, as you will find many comics and other games to enjoy while you wait for this game to be completed!

Based on my comic of the same name...
That's right! "Solanaceae" was a comic before it was a game! The comic is not required reading for the game to be enjoyable, but it does help a lot. The comic takes place before the game and is currently ongoing. Once the comic wraps up, it'll be available as a PDF through this page or somehow integrated into the game.

About the Music
The full original soundtrack can be found on most music streaming platforms, just look up "Solanaceae: After All" and you should be able to find it!
