Miksi Early Access?

Seed of Agony needs time to germinate! We're launching in Early Access to build a community and respond to that community through the development of the game. Seed of Agony has a lot going on already, and is the kind of game that can be built on indefinitely, so we're ready to open things up a bit and see what the community thinks.

Seed of Agony is something of a storytelling machine. There are many layers of story present, that are delivered in many ways, some of them interactive. At the moment, the game's story is limited, as many of those layers have yet to be implemented. The true depth of the experience is the plan for the full version, and what we will be working on. For now, you get to play the game. But soon, it will feel like a world you get to exist in.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

The current state of Seed of Agony does not lack in features. There is an infinitely explorable universe, dozens of types of levels, demons to spawn and upgrade, dozens of weapons to try, several hundred unique enemies, a complete story, space battles, and colonization gameplay. You won't mistake it for anything other than a game.

We hope the community can become an integral part of development. We have a lot of plans, but Seed of Agony is an entire galaxy. There's no end to what it can contain, and we'd love to field suggestions from the community and respond to them.

Seed of Agony is a retro 4x platforming RPG about Demons in Space colonizing a virgin galaxy. Their Empire has fallen, and the Emperor uses the last of his magic to send the last living Seed ship, the Seed of Agony, to a new, unexplored, unconquered galaxy, in order to start a new Empire. Take control of a small army of demons grown and managed on board the Seed of Agony, travel from star system to star system, and complete planet-side missions as those demons to momentarily quell the pain of the Seed of Agony long enough for her to grow a Colony Seed, thereby expanding the Empire.

Action RPG planet-side missions featuring hundreds of aliens to conquer

Procedurally Generated systems and stages featuring dozens of different styles of generation, resulting in infinite, vastly different experiences

Dynamic Turn-based space battles, directly controlling the Seed of Agony as she faces off against space monsters

RTS base building that prioritizes rapid building/colonization/expansion

Living Ship that can grow new, expendable (read: perma-death) demons, weapons, etc.

Resource Management for the ship provides a hint of Survival

Proto-civilizations the player can interact with in different ways. Convert them to the New Demon Religion, or conquer them by causing a nearby volcano to erupt!

Write your own story -- literally! Certain missions can be recorded in Books of Demon Lore the player writes themselves via a mad-libs-style mechanic

Indefinite, persistent play. With tons of procedural possibilities, hundreds of enemies, items, demons, space monsters, base-building and way, way more, Seed of Agony is designed to be played forever.
