What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“During the development of a project like this, community feedback during the creation of various features is extremely important. The best feedback will come from experience, and as such making this project available in early access makes the most sense.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The project will be in early access until the list of release features on our website is complete, or we have determined that an equivalent value in features has been otherwise met. We anticipate that goal to be met by Late 2022, exiting really access at that time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will differ from the full release greatly in the beginning, but should differ less and less as time goes on.
We would like the full release to include:
  • Dedicated Board, Card, and Dice editors
  • A dedicated editor for Rules
  • Basic Scripting support
  • Probability calculations for decks and dice
  • Many quality of life changes
  • Community requested features that may not even exist yet!

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, Early Access has a game editor, with the ability to create and save games, pieces, cards, and decks. Also available is the deck editor. See the main description or our roadmap for extra details.
At the moment multiplayer is unavailable, but we are making it our highest priority.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As thanks for helping during our Early Access period, we have initially priced our game well below our final target. As time goes on and more features are added the price will increase to our final price which is still to be determined.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be incredibly important in the development of this project. We need as much input as we can on features and implementation to suit the needs of as many projects as possible. Although we will be using this product to prototype our own games, we also hope others will do the same, and we want to support everyone's tabletop development process as best we can!
We implore you to get involved on Steam forums, join our Discord, or contact us by the means linked on our Website!”

About This Game

Normally the Editor would be paid, however since multiplayer has not been implemented we are allowing free access until we release the multiplayer update. You can buy the Editor early to support us, but note that it does not unlock additional features at this time.

The Board Game Engine was built with game developers in mind as a tool for designing and prototyping your very own tabletop games with as much freedom as possible.
