What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The basic single player game ("Last Survivor" mode) works, but I want to see if people like the gameplay first before adding more content. The mode could be enhanced with new levels, items, enemies and heroes to focus more on a rogue-like/lite experience.

And I'd like to know in which directions I should take the game:

"Fire Team (single player)": Focus on more complex gameplay and letting the player control up to four heroes with different skills and abilities to allow for more advanced problem-solving situations and gameplay variety.

"Fire Team (couch co-op): Allow up to four players split screen to have a fun local multiplayer option. This would be more like an extension to the above single player mode, but focus more on fun gameplay than on complex problem-solving.

"Escape from Hallas Prime": A single player story campaign complete with NPCs and in-game cutscenes to drive the story forward and give the opportunity for additional gameplay features like rescue or escort missions.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This depends on which features of the above will be focused on. I plan to have a robust and complete single player mode by the end of 2021.

The couch co-op mode and the story mode (if requested) could take the game completion well into mid 2022.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The initial basic game is a single player Rogue-like experience.

Based on the interest for the proposed play modes ("Fire Team (single player)", "Fire Team (couch co-op), "Escape from Hallas Prime (story mode)") the game will get more complex gameplay, couch multiplayer and/or a story campaign

And based on feedback, general additions (levels, items, enemies) to enhance gameplay in all modes will be added.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The tutorial and the "Last Survivor" single player rogue-like mode are playable and in beta.

The other modes are still early alpha or at a proof-of-concept stage to let me determine if they were possible to realize.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, once it is finished, the price will be higher since the additional features will lead to a higher entertainment value for the player.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will need the feedback of the community in order to decide which of the additional gameplay modes should be realized and which additional features will make the best of the game.

I will use the Steam community discussions for the game in order to get feedback and share proposals with the players.”

About This Game

Survive
Everyone is dead. Your only chance is the escape shuttle... but you need fuel and oxygen. And find the codes for the self-destruct... just hope IT does not find you first.

What is it about?
The basic idea was a 2D survival horror game, loosely base on the old ZX81 game "Alien". You are alone on a spaceship and have to survive long enough to get the lifeboat up and running and escape from the horror. There are some Rogue-like elements, since your objectives and the items you find in a level are randomized.

The initial release contains a three part tutorial to get you familiar with the game concepts and three different levels for the main game. Replay value is achieved by combining the rogue-like elements with several difficulty levels.

Initial Features
  • 2D stealthy survival horror gameplay
  • 3 tutorial levels
  • 3 different levels for the single player "Last Survivor" mode.
  • Rogue-like randomized objectives and item placements
  • 3 difficulty levels

Early access?
Once the basic gameplay works ("Last Survivor" mode), there are several directions I could take the game:

"Fire Team (single player)": Survive with a team of four characters to add tactical depth to the game and allow more complex game play?

"Fire Team (couch co-op)": This would also make couch co-op possible - why control all heroes when you can survive together with some friends?

"Escape from Hallas Prime": Or maybe focus on single player and add a story campaign with NPCs, in-engine cutscenes and more complex gameplay?

This is where your opinion comes in - if you like the gameplay and would like to see the game grow, which direction should I take?
