What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to collect feedback from players so we can iterate and polish the game! Also, while the game has complete mechanics and core story, the last quarter is missing a lot of ancillary narrative content and two dungeons.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Due to limited interest, development of the game is on pause. We would love for you to play, enjoy and are very interested in your feedback! We want to return to finish The Long Journey in the future, but there is no official timetable for that at present.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“A lot of the character arcs will resolve more gracefully and the build up to the ending will be much less rushed through the addition of a lot of bridging scenes. There will be several more dungeons and minigames added, and both the narrative and mechanics will be polished, tuned and adjusted based on your feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game offers 20-30 hours of playable content, 6 dungeons, 8 towns, all major characters and most of their abilities. The story is fully written for most of the game, including ending choices for the major characters, a grand conclusion and an epilogue.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to charge for the game eventually, probably either when it's content complete or when it goes out of early access. We won't charge anyone who already has the game for any of the content that's currently missing from the main release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We really, really, really want feedback on the game from you! That's why the game is free right now :) We want to know what parts you liked or didn't, which characters you enjoy and which ones are boring, which dungeons you loved or hated, whose abilities you use all the time or never, which puzzle really tickled your brain, etc. Anything about whether you're enjoying the game or not is treasure to us!

The best way to give feedback is by joining the discord for the game, but you can also send us email. We aren't checking Twitter all that frequently, but we'll see it there eventually too :) If you provide us your contact info, either in game or in your communique, we'll get back to you with thoughts and reactions!”

About This Game

An SNES style action\puzzle RPG. Help two friends caught as a queen tries to save her brother but curses him instead. Dramatic story, loveable characters, strategic action battles, amusing puzzles and a fantasy\sci-fi world to explore.

Follow nine major characters, each dealing with some form of loss in their own way. Watch their stories intertwine as they struggle to save a world brought to the bring of disaster by an ancient love. See them laugh, cry and fight to safeguard what they care about.

Discover a world steeped in the danger and mystery of a shattered past. Defeat your enemies with clever strategy and over thirty unique character abilities. Solve devious puzzles with your wits alone. Discover whether you have the strength to defy a fate ordained when the world was new.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The game has two scenes involving kidnapping and one with malicious psychological manipulation. There are several battles which involve people dying, but there is very limited blood and no gore. Many characters are dealing with death, loss and other adult themes. There is romance, but nothing that could be described as sexual.
