Early Access-spel

“As of May of 2025, there are 6 hours of game content. There are 2 villages to explore, 20 NPCs, 55 crafting recipes, 22 crafting machines, domesticated animals to care for, 5 skill trees, a cooking system, randomly generated quests, randomly generated lairs, over 30 different fish to catch, many items to forage (sea shells, flowers, herbs, etc), 3 areas of magic, and a variety of enemy types.

Many people ask me why I'm making this game. It's a massive undertaking. RPG Roguelikes are probably the most complicated game you can make. There are two reasons:

(1) To bring joy to the players.
(2) It's fun creating a game. The process of creating a game makes me happy.

I need a better idea of where players would like the game to go. I need player input and suggestions. I've reached the stage of the game creation process where I will be making major game play and content decisions. It would be best if players could join in this decision-making process.

I'm making this game simply because it's the game I want to play. I need no other motivation. It's a game unlike any other, a game that I wish existed, but it doesn't, so it's my job to create it, so I can play it.

You might ask yourself: what about money? The small amount of money that I might make from this game isn't important. Jiro Ono, master craftsman and sushi maker, has said as much about his own work. My goal is perfecting the game and delivering a product of excellent quality. In Jiro Ono's words:

"Once you decide on your occupation, you must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work. Never complain about your job. You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That’s the secret of success, and is the key to being regarded honorably."”

“One to two years.”

“All of the major functional areas of the game will be more developed in the full version. The early access version provides a sneak peak into the open world, rogue-like vision that I plan on delivering in the full version.

The full version will contain:

(1) Behavior based AI for important factional NPCs. Non-scripted AI is key to the Elanor design concept. Think of the difference between how NPCs behave in a game like the Sims (behavorial) versus Skyrim (scripted). Based upon their needs (food, social interaction, job), NPCs change their behaviors and actions.
(2) Multiple economic and productivity models for earning gold or simply interacting with the people of Elanor. This isn't just a farming, fishing and adventuring game. Become a blacksmith and sell weapons. Become a potter and sell pottery. Build a library and center of learning.
(3) Factional politics.
(4) Large overworld map featuring thousands of programmatically generated sub maps.
(5) Branching story lines.
(6) Deep skill tree.

“The game includes hours of playable content with most of it centered around crafting.

All of the major systems for the game are working: combat, quests, skills, farming, resource gathering, programmatic map generation, NPC interaction, crafting, experience and leveling.

Although the current release is a beta, the demo was available for years on Steam, and the game is stable and well tested. ”

“I plan to raise the game price by approximately 10 percent after the Early Access period ends. I plan to raise the price to account for new content and features.”

Hur planerar ni att involvera gemenskapen i er utvecklingsprocess?

“I'm planning on involving the Community in the development process through Steam Forums.

My ideas are not always the best ideas, and I can't wait for players to be able to make suggestions.”

Om detta spel

The Isle of Elanor is an open-ended role playing game. It features real-time combat, a strong focus on player choice, and a High Fantasy narrative. The game borrows mechanics from Caves of Qud, Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Stardew Valley.

You wash ashore on The Isle of Elanor, the last bastion of humanity remaining in the world. You retain only fragments of your memory – your origins are a mystery. The people of the isle are puzzled by your inexplicable arrival.

The situation on the island is grim: many people are poor, destitute, and in some cases close to starving. There's social strife and division. You're given a small plot of land. Can you help humanity survive?

Alternately, you don't have to play the "good guy".  You will be given the choice to side with the forces on the island who wish to profit from humanity's demise.

  • At the highest difficulty level, the game is meant to be challenging. If you're not careful, you will starve.

  • Select skills and attributes to determine your build: a tank, melee fighter, or a ranged attacker? Or choose a build that doesn't specialize in combat.

  • The Isle of Elanor is a game about player choice. What type of home to build? Who to befriend or who to make an enemy of?

  • Set in an imaginary period of the Earth's past, it's a world that borrows elements from both Midgard and Middle Earth. The peoples of Middle Earth (humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, etc) appear in the game.

  • Complex combat mechanics featuring single-handed (quick) and two-handed (long-range) basic attacks, skills (magic), and the use of a shield.

  • This is more than a farming, fishing, and mining game. In fact, your home isn't necessarily a farm. You can manufacture pottery, furniture or craft weapons and armor.

  • Become a part of the community. Give food and items to needy townspeople. Watch the townspeople prosper, or decline, along with the home you build. You will face the consequences of your actions.

  • Deep branching dialog options. Learn about the people and the history of the island.

  • Features a realistic geology model. Stone occurs in sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic layers. Some types of stone, ore, and jewels are available to mine only in certain layers.

  • Just a few of the types of stone: Bauxite, Cobalite, Granite, Gypsum, and Olivine. When you craft an item out of stone, the item retains the properties (color, weight, value) from the stone. The same mechanic applies to items crafted from wood.

  • Factional alliances. The non-player characters on the island are grouped into factions. Most NPCs have families. Your relationship with one family member affects your relationship with the other family members. There are multiple towns in the game which also form factions.

  • The guiding principle behind the quest system is consequences. Quests result in small changes here and there to show how the world is changed – for better or worse.
