Astrokicker

Mixing old and new, Astrokicker is inspired by classic shootemups going back to the 80s, with a few twists. The player gets to fly in any direction, and using a combination of skill and strategy, takes out the starbases controlling warpfields.

Miksi Early Access?

The game is play-ready, and as a small, indie developer, we wanted to get this out to users who are welcome to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.

We'd like to improve the music, sound effects, and perhaps offer more unique "bosses" to battle with.

Fully playable, 100 levels of action, over 25 types of enemy fighters, numerous power ups, 4 skill levels, and even a Retro mode.

The price will not change when we leave early access.

Absolutely. This has been a labor of love for me. The game plays homage to a couple classic 80s arcade games, and as far as I know, is unique in the shmup category. I like to think I have refined the controls and UI in this game, but I'm also sure a larger audience will provide feedback needed to make this a great experience for all users. Mixing old and new, Astrokicker is inspired by classic shootemups going back to the 80s, with a few twists. Pilot your ship in any direction, avoiding asteroids and steering well clear of space mines, as you use a variety of weapons and power ups to destroy the starbases controlling warpfields used to travel between the stars.

Key Features:

Story: Astrokicker features a full story, playing out without forcing the player to sit through cut scenes
Modern mode: In modern mode, you fly in any direction, ships are rendered in 3D with a detailed UI
Retro Mode: While in Retro mode, ships are limited to 8 directions and the graphics will bring back that hot 80s arcade action feel
Visuals: Beautiful parallax scrolling backgrounds in modern mode - we created 100 unique backgrounds for mouthwatering visuals
Powerups: The action can get intense, so selecting and using the various powerups can make the difference between victory and defeat
Control: Astrokicker makes full use of your gamepad, with quick selection of your powerups at your figertips
