What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want the Community to play a bigger part in Corpse Mansion's development to help us with finding bugs, game testing, and other normally arduous tasks. We hope this can streamline development for us while providing us with constructive criticism from the community to help us make the gameplay experience more enjoyable for everyone.

Considering we're a small indie dev team that's building a massive game without a triple A studio's budget, Early Access is a great way for us to just get our game out there while building a player base now as opposed to waiting for the full release later.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate the game will see a full release by the end of next year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to have a fully fleshed out interactive world for you to explore and survive in. Most things will keep the same mechanics where drawers, boxes, etc. will always be searchable. The story will be concluded, and several side missions will be added to the game for the player to explore.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core battle system is 100% complete, and no more additions are planned at this time. A lot of the code is already done for the game, and now the team is solely focusing on finishing the storyline and expanding the game world. You can't find every weapon in the game yet, but a fair number of them are already obtainable in the current version.

Right now, there is a fully implemented survival system. Players have to find food, water, and somewhere to sleep just to stay alive. You can complete the Prologue, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2 in the early access version. More chapters are actively being developed for the game, so please look forward to them. Finally, players can officially attach their gun parts to weapons at a workbench in the game. (must have learned the weapons' associated blueprint first)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We want to be as fair and transparent as possible with our players. We will not be offering more than 40% off during the early access release time. In addition to this, we will not be changing the base price until the game is fully released.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We involve the community in a number of ways. The best place to go at the present time is to our game's dedicated social media account to get all the latest and greatest information. Occasionally, we may offer some raffles for free game keys to people that are following us on Twitter. Finally, we also engage with our customers in discussion here on Steam.

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Stay alive in a harsh world with a dynamic survival system, managing hunger, thirst, and rest to avoid deadly consequences.

  • Manage your gear with a slot-based inventory system, where item limits force you to prioritize what's essential.

  • Engage in complex conversations with NPCs, where your choices have permanent effects and influence future interactions.

  • Choose from three difficulty modes:

  • Casual: A more relaxed experience with reduced enemy spawns, generous loot, and flexible saving options that allow you to save at any time outside of conversations.

  • Survival: A balanced challenge with moderate enemy spawns, adjusted loot, and saving restricted to safe houses.

  • Hardcore: A brutal experience with intense enemy spawns, scarce loot, and saving restricted to safe houses.

Exploration and Environment

  • Explore a vast, fully interactable environment, using tools to overcome obstacles and uncover hidden items.

  • Discover lootable items in a massive city, spanning suburbs, slums, and downtown areas, each with its own secrets.

Combat and Crafting

  • Master the art of gunsmithing, repairing and attaching gun parts to upgrade weapon traits such as, but not limited to, headshot chance, speed, capacity, damage, durability, knockback, stun, and more, allowing you to tailor your firearms to fit your playstyle.

  • Learn the corresponding blueprint to craft ammunition or remove gun parts from your weapons, unlocking new possibilities for customization and resource management.

  • Craft ammunition with gunpowder at a gunsmith workbench, managing your resources to keep your firearms supplied.

Story and Progression

  • Shape the story with your decisions, influencing the flow of events and ultimately determining the ending.

  • Build lasting relationships with NPCs through thoughtful dialogue choices and actions, earning friendship points by doing missions for them and choosing dialogue options they prefer. As you raise an NPC's friendship level, unlock new missions, loot, and other benefits that reflect the growing bond between you and the characters.

  • Rescue citizens to gain access to new resources and track your progress on your portable data system.

Economy and Trade

  • Experience realistic shops, where owners have limited stock; items purchased from the player will remain in stock indefinitely, and new goods are added over time, reflecting the dynamic world around you.
