What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While the game is already a lot of fun and all the core mechanics are finished, we believe we can make it even better with your feedback!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We hope to finalize the game in a few months time!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are some additional features we are thinking about adding:

  • transporters that allow you to transport items over a certain distance
  • electricity generators as you spend a ton of money on electricity in the late game, for example coal plants
  • expand on the scripting capabilities, allowing you to take even more control over your factory
  • more insights into your factory, like how many items of a certain type you are producing
  • decorative items that serve no real purpose except to brighten up your factory, especially for themed mods this could be an interesting addition
  • expand on the modding system

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All the core mechanics are finished meaning you can play the game from start to finish, build your factory, upgrade it, share your blueprints...

The mod system is mostly complete but there are some core parts that are not yet moddable. For example you can add custom tiles, custom workers, new items and recipes, tweak tons of tiny variables but you can't set custom graphics yet for machines, containers, belts,... We want to complete the mod support so you can create truly custom worlds.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have a target price in mind that is slightly higher than the initial early access price. We plan to gradually raise the price as we progress towards the first full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The steam discussion area is always a good place to start and there is also feedback form available on our site, we are looking forward to hearing from you!”

About This Game

In Factorization, you must plan and build a factory capable of producing a myriad of resources.

You focus on designing optimal production lines while buying and selling resources to keep the factory profitable. In the meantime your workers will build your designs and carry out the day-to-day tasks in your factory.

You can let them carry resources from and to the machines as is needed or you can choose to automate the process by using belts, splitters, mergers, containers...

As you progress, you will need to upgrade your infrastructure to include faster belts and more capable machines in order to build ever more complex items. An in-game planning tool can assist you in figuring out what you need to build a particular item.

There is a strong focus on design, allowing you to sketch out exactly what you want before committing to the build. Once you're happy with your creation, you can create blueprints to reuse in other games or share with your friends.

The game can be completely overhauled with mods, introducing not only new graphics and tiny tweaks but entirely new production lines, backstories and ultimate goals. In fact, the core game itself is written as a mod for the factorization engine.

For those who are interested, you can take even more control over your factory by scripting smart belts.
