What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our original goal with this game was to attempt to make it and finish it all in one month. As we started reaching closer to that one month mark we realised that while the product is still polished and fun, it could still use more content to make it an even more fantastic and enjoyable experience. Since this would also be our first public release we need community feedback to guide us in the right direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our Trello board would have us slated to finish the game by around late 2020 but depending on our workload things could easily get pushed back. Trello board and more can be found on social media and our website!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Compared to the first Early Access version we intend to improve the way in practically every shape and form. Which means adding more dungeons, more weapons, and more. Essentially a product that is more polished and has more content since most things (especially the UI and Menu) will be expecting a rework to make them more unique and readable. Plus, the great thing about being in early access while adding content is we will be able to listen to the community tell us what they would like to see and how we should shift our priorities.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently has a strong content foundation, rich with reliability, charm, and character. 100+ dungeon rooms, 10+ weapons, many different types of equipment, and more! Many of our early adopters have reported them clocking in hundreds of hours just in gameplay! For more specific features please refer to "About This" on the steam page.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game WILL increase as we add more content and get closer to a 1.0 release. We can’t give exact dates at this time when the builds with higher price points will be released but keep a close eye to our announcements. The price won't increase after the 1.0 build.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The whole point we are going into early access instead of just releasing it at once is to engage the community into the development of the game. Every two weeks we release a devlog where we talk about how the process of developing the game is going and some fun facts about what we are experiencing. You can find the devlog on our website or as a Steam announcement. We also will host polls on Twitter and Instagram to get more of the community feedback so make sure you stay connected!”

About This Game

Red Dungeon is a small size game coming from the up and coming independent game studio Comic Games™. The player controls the protagonist and explores multiple levels of a mysterious dungeon with secrets to uncover. As the player explores and goes deeper into multiple levels of a dungeon the enemies became more abundant and/or increasingly harder/stronger. The player can also access a time-traveling merchant to increase the power of their gear and buy new equipment.
In every dungeon, there will be an assortment of enemies, most notably: zombies. The game plays like a third-person roguelike game. The player will begin in a room that is neutral and has not many (or none at all) items. Since the layout will be randomly generated there could be a door to his left, right, front, and behind. After the player goes through a door he will be confronted with a random set of enemies and obstacles. Once the room is cleared the door that is either left, right, front, center (reference random generation) opens so that they can do it again in a new room with different enemies. In every layout, there is a random room with the merchant in it to purchase no gear/equipment so that the stronger enemies don't stand a chance.
Nostalgic, “PS1 Like Graphics” and intentionally clunky controls to give the game a hard and atmospheric yet enjoyable experience. The project is projected to make it in early access after a month which is also supposed to give it its novelty. Drawing inspiration from many of the Playstation 1 and Playstation 2 era classics.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The mature content is mainly mature violence in the sense of blood, combat, and depictions of undead creatures.
