Hvorfor tidlig tilgang?

«Roughly 8 years ago, while working in the kitchen at a ramen shop, I had the crazy idea to make a video game. Since then, Cirrata has grown into a deeply personal solo project a labor of love that’s taken shape through late nights, hard lessons, and a whole lot of passion.

As a solo developer balancing a full-time job, I’ve realized how much more I could do with the support of a community behind me. The hand-drawn art, mixed animation styles, and handcrafted world design are incredibly time-intensive but they’re what give Cirrata its heart. Early Access gives me the opportunity to dedicate more time to the game while also opening the door to player feedback, which is something I value immensely. Being able to focus on Cirrata full-time would be incredible and Early Access could make that possible.

«That depends largely on the momentum and feedback I receive—but my goal is to spend at least a year in Early Access. «The Early Access version is just the foundation—a solid starting point for something much larger. By 1.0, Cirrata will have:

  • 4 additional biomes (for a total of 6), each with unique enemies, hazards, and bosses.
  • 50+ stackable food power-ups to tailor your playstyle.
  • 10+ secondary weapons, each with 3 unique attack tiers.
  • A customizable frog bar hub, which grows as you progress.
  • Tons of secret rooms, destructibles, and Easter eggs.
  • Foraging and food crafting systems.
  • Animated cutscenes, and a fully hand-animated intro.
  • Additional elemental damage types, starting with lightning, along with elemental synergies.
  • A wider cast of intractable NPCs with new interactions and side stories.

Your feedback during Early Access will help shape what else makes it into the final release.

  • 2 biomes: The dark Underground and the early-stage Sky Islands.
  • A working central frog bar hub with food mechanics.
  • 12 food power-up items, each with unique buffs or abilities.
  • 4 secondary weapons: Throwing Knife, Cleaver, Sauté Pan, and Meat Tenderizer—each with 3 upgrade levels.
  • Currency collection (TOMI), randomized item generation, and shops.
  • About 1–2 hours of gameplay, depending on your approach.

It's early, but there's a LOT more planned.

OPEN playtest for the Seattle Indies Expo steam event is now closed. I will be accepting more playtesters as new features get added to the game. 

Cirrata is a rogue-lite, action-platformer with metroidvania elements, inspired by classics like Dead Cells, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Risk of Rain—but forged into something uniquely its own.

Play as Kier, a once-renowned chef turned reluctant warrior, armed with your trusty chef's knife and an arsenal of brutal culinary tools. Each weapon features three escalating tiers of attacks, turning kitchen gear into instruments of chaos.

Explore a strange, hostile world in search of provisions and fuel. Feed the fires of the kitchen and earn meals that grant powerful, stackable effects. Every dish alters your abilities, letting you craft a playstyle tailored to massive battles, rare loot, and relentless progression.

Gameplay:

  • Discover a frog-run bar that serves as your central hub. As you grow stronger, so does the bar—expanding with new features and characters.

  • Gather ingredients by exploring the world and defeating enemies. Use them to fuel the kitchen, unlock new items, or repurchase previously discovered meals.

  • Consume up to five different food items at once to gain unique, stackable powers—either found in the world or specially prepared by chefs.

  • Equip a variety of chef tools as powerful secondary weapons, each with three escalating attack tiers: Regular, Enhanced, and Ultimate.

  • Challenge elite foes, mini-bosses, and massive bosses to earn new weapons, permanent upgrades, and powerful abilities.
