What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is presently playable in its core gameplay, but a campaign and numerous fixes and features is on its way and will greatly benefit from player feedback. Making decisions and building features with the community can be considered an important step to crafting the right game. The customer is always right!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“For however long development of the game's primary campaign lasts. It is unknown how long exactly this will take but we are aiming to complete it in mid 2022. After the official move out of Early Access may come content expansions and any further required fixes as they surface.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will have numerous bugs and issues that may or may not break gameplay. Thanks to an Early Access scheme we can iron out these bugs as the players discover them. The full release version is also planned to have a complete role-playing campaign set in an open world, numerous game modes, ships, customisation and more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current Alpha state, Exphelius: Arena features 5 quick-play game modes: Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Derby, Outrun and Marathon. Free for All is a classic shoot-em-up against 11 AI contenders, with Derby being the same but without weapons. Outrun involves evading or destroying the cops before your time runs out, and Marathon is a race to the finish line. All modes except for Marathon includes several powerups that frequently spawn around the maps.

12 ships with 3 skins each are available to the player to choose, along with 4 different keyboard/mouse control schemes. Completing matches currently does not reward the player, but achievements, XP and stat tracking are on its way.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Exphelius: Arena will have its price raised by the end of Early Access - this will likely be a gradual increase as the game expands and receives polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Consistent feedback via forums such as Steam and Discord will be our primary methods of community involvement. Progress will also be openly shared on such forums and our YouTube channel, including (but not limited to) development livestreams, showcases, AMA's and possibly tutorials for other aspiring developers out there.”
