Why Early Access?

“This is my first game, I want this little micro-world to grow and improve.

If I first launched Iconic outside of Early Access people would expect it to be 100% complete, and awesome, and immediately worth every cent. I just know even with all the caution and love I am putting into this game that bugs or problems will be found that need to be fixed.

I want to devote time to creating a very fun and well-made experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I intend to keep this game early access for only 6 months, with additional content updates with enough interest.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

Version 0.05: Only features 2-3 minutes of gameplay and will continue to build out towards 3-4 hours during early access as the game gets closer to full release in January.

The current amount of content will likely include the starting area and develop out into fuller scope by the time Iconic leaves Early Access.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Pre-Early Access: Right now only a handful of levels are available with many of the core mechanics of movement, puzzles, obstacles, etc all completed as a very polished and well functioning minimal viable product.

During Early Access: On July 7th, the game will feature the entire Polygon Island tutorial area, which will house multiple challenging levels, and minimal bugs or broken features.

As the developer, I have a strong desire to keep any potential bugs and issues to a very bare minimum vs. what seems to be industry practice atm of releasing broken rapid prototypes just to create a ton of content upfront to shove in the player's face that is buggy and broken and requires a lot of do over and clean up.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to increase the price as value, quality and quantity of content improves vs. selling a bunch of small DLC packs. I would like to pay those back who invest and participate in the game early on during its development and refinement.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I would like to engage with the Iconic Community through our discord and the steam community section for Iconic, get their thoughts & feelings and use their help to improve the game.”

About This Game

You are an arrow icon, navigating a 2D open world of visual communication. Free to go anywhere you like as long as you can figure out how to solve the puzzles. Discover secrets, visit landmarks, explore dungeons, cross continents, avoid destruction or fail for fun!

A World of Visual Communication:

Iconic features a world without text-based language, the experience is communicated directly through forms of visual display to help the player progress. Colors are used sparingly to indicate importance or to catch the eye and offer hints where the focus should be directed. The simplicity and minimalism is intentional and based on the concept of "Lagom" which roughly translates to "Not too little, not too much" in Swedish.

The gameplay is intended to invoke feelings of both calm and intense stress, yet let the player control the pace of progress and give freedom to discover what is available at the time and place of the players choosing.
