Why Early Access?

“Primarily to tune gameplay while I get leaderboards up and running.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“No longer than three months. Depending on community engagement, I'm hoping to modify gameplay and swarm mechanics based on player feedback. This will also allow time to get achievements and leaderboards up and running based on desired difficulty.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have well-rounded gameplay difficulty with fully integrated leaderboards and achievements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the game is fully playable, however, leaderboards and achievements have not been integrated for Steam platform yet.

This means players can battle through 10 different nature-themed arenas in three modes. Campaign allows players to unlock new wingsets with new bomb abilities. Survival is a fight to the death defending your grove as long as you can while being bombarded with unique enemies. Boss Rush mode is unlocked when the campaign is complete, and challenges players to strategically work their way through each area boss using only one health meter during boss progression.

Being the spirit of the game is a unique twist on traditional twin-stick action, this game was designed for use with gamepad, so Mouse/Keyboard is not recommended, but has basic compatibility.

The game also includes 4-player local coop, so plug in 4 four gamepads, and battle along side your friends competing to collect nectar, but working together to fend off more powerful foes.

“The price will be the same during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I have two different pages available where players can chime in and provide their critical feedback either through my discord channel, or on the facebook page for Flutter Bombs. I will also check the store page frequently to address player concerns in the discussions forum of the Flutter Bombs Steam store page.

Updates will be posted across all three forum locations as progress is made and as i respond to player feedback. This is usually a post every other week, but i respond pretty quickly to forum posts if any questions come up.

What kind of feedback you say? I'm looking for honest and open thoughts about gameplay specific to player movement speed, bomb speed, damage balancing, enemy mechanics diversification, and life gain, especially in boss rush mode, to make sure player's aren't just grinding away without any excitement. There are two difficulty modes. The game was designed for the harder mode, but defaults on easy mode (Gentle Caterpillar).

During these updates, I'll be making progress on the leaderboard and achievement integration so by official launch time on PC the gameplay is better balanced so global Steam stats online make sense.”

Leaderboards Now Online!



Build 1.0.6 now has leaderboards working via Steam interface. Am currently working on getting this integrated into the game UI as well, but for now high scores can be checked out online through your Steam client.

Leaderboards currently include all 10 levels.

I've also tweaked a few things under the hood in response to some player feedback. Nectar is a little cheaper now meaning players can unload a clip of nectar for longer periods of time without having to refill.

Raging Butterfly difficulty mode also slightly increases game speed.

In the meantime, in addition to the classical score in the game, another composer has hopped on board with some revamped versions of the classical tracks into upbeat face paced tracks. I hope to have these integrated by full release time as an unlockable feature via achievement completion.

Flutter Bombs Achievements Integration

35 Flutter Bombs Achievements



The first round of achievements integration has been completed, and the new build with this update is available. 35 achievements ranging from campaign completion, to mastery of each level in some form or another either with a specific gameplay mechanic native to that level, or with that level's boss.

A few examples include:
> Hole in None : Prevent Fire Ants from Reaching their Colony at Molly's Fire Pit
> Shroom Doom : Destroy a giant mushroom being thrown at you at Wagtail's Swamp
> Flutter Bomber : Defeat the final boss only using bombs.

If anyone finds the achievements to be too unrealistic to complete, or too easy, feel free to reach out so I can address it. Thanks!

Flutter Bombs offers unique gameplay that twists the standard rules of a twin-stick. With players choosing whether it's advantageous to collect nectar or not based on environmental conditions in the field of play, players can dominate the game by collecting only the nectar they need.

With a variable hex-tile board, and unique mechanics in each no-fly zone, the game challenges players reaction times, forcing a choice between either dropping a bomb with a delayed yet powerful impact, or shooting nectar guns to neutralize immediate airborne threats.

The beautiful classical score offers the soothing sound of harmony as natural chaos ensues. Cooperative gameplay further adds to this experience creating a fun social dynamic for up to four players competing to collect nectar, but working together to fend off powerful foes.
