What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I wish to release the game in early access to give the community input to shape the final stages of the game's development. I hope to make the game into one of the best city builders.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Unknown won't leave early access until bastide mechanics are deep and well polished.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game at early access will be slightly rough, buggy and unbalanced. I will use your advice and complaints to improve and create a fun and enjoyable experience for those seeking casual gameplay and those wanting hardcore survival.

Here are a few planned features from the roadmap:
*Fully procedural maps.
*Trading with local villages.
*Pop-up events that require a decision from the player to decide the fate of a peasant
*More buildings and jobs
*Expeditions
*Viking raiders
*War
*Optional fog of war
*Possible terraforming”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current game is a tactical town builder set in medieval times with multiple seasons, day-night cycles, and lots of buildings and jobs to be utilized. Villagers must be kept safe from other villages, bandits, animals, starvation, disease and the cold. You can grow and fortify your town and efficiently place buildings to increase your chance of survival.

Updates are released every week, fixing bugs and adding new content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be around £15-£20 $18-25 €17-23”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“All advice and complaints will be heard and help shape the game's focus and development. Any issues or feedback are quickly addressed on the Bastide steam discussions page.”

About This Game

(Early Access Game In Alpha.)

Bastide is developed using Unreal Engine 5 using features such as Nanite, lumen Virtual shadow maps and Temporal super-resolution.

Procedurally generated maps. Mods, exploration and trading with neighbours are planned future updates.

Bastide is a city-building strategy based in the 13th century. You must guide your village of peasants to thrive and survive against other villages, bandits, hunger, disease, and the cold so that they may grow into a fortified town. To survive and grow, efficiently managing your peasants is extremely important, with anything and everything ready to cause havoc at any moment. There are multiple seasons and a day-and-night cycle.

In Bastide, there are many jobs to assign your peasants to so that they can collect food resources and expand the town.

Start from nothing and build your village up into a large town. Using the resources nearby, you must construct buildings and assign jobs, increasing resources and food production to enable survival and growth.

Use the surrounding animals to either hunt or to place into pastures.

Hunting animals will provide meat, wool and hide. Allowing your people to get food, clothes, tools and stay warm.

Multiple difficulties and turning off enemies allow players to have a relaxing or demanding experience.

Future fixes and additions can be found on Bastide's Trello page: https://trello.com/b/wmADEm0H/bastide-roadmap
