What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“With the main concept, UI, and first level finished, we are starting to ponder what direction to take with the remaining levels. Should we include a wild west shootout? Is it too soon to create an enemy that does the 'flossing' dance? Maybe we should go to space?! This is exactly what you'd get if it was left to us, but with Early Access that doesn't have to be the case. We are hoping the community can help us decide what directions to take (and which to avoid.)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our plan as of now is to create 3 additional levels, each increasing in difficulty and size, over the second half of 2019. Even if nobody buys our damn game, this is going to happen.

After these 3 levels, if there is community support, I'd be down to keep building more funky stuff until nobody cares anymore. How about that?”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current EA version only has one hero, and therefore only the first level. (Each level has a different hero / setting / items.) The current level is a kind of tutorial, set in a medieval castle tower. You play as Bear, a super fly little guy. The items are the kinds you'd expect in an RPG.

Each additional Hero / level will not only grow in length, but in content as well. Each hero will play through a different environment, one that matches their character. The items will also change accordingly.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything that you will find in the current version will remain (we think). There is a steampunk themed UI system, that utilizes spinning panels and is controlled by levers. The menus, graphics, keys mapping, and gameplay, all are complete. Of course, there might be some upgrades along the way. But all in large, the game is done. We just need more levels.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will most likely only increase slightly once the game is released. If the community demands more levels and content, and production extends into next year because of it, well then will we consider a substantial price increase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Mostly we will be watching the forums, on Steam and stuff, for game ideas and feedback. We also have a page on the Godfreyluck Games website and can be contacted through it with feedback or ideas. We want lots of community involvement on this game, and will implement whatever realistic ideas we get!”

About This Game

Going Up? is the first of it's kind, Indie tower-climber RPG. Head up a floor to fight, or go back down to regroup and item up. The choice is yours, but you must decide wisely. One item could mean riches gained, while another will only lead to death!

Godfreyluck Game's debut: Going Up?, contains all the traditional elements of an RPG with a new twist. The intricate item typing system forces a player to choose their items carefully, giving this game a bit of a puzzler twist. We've also included upgrades for armor and skills, as well as a store. Please note that this game is still in Very Early Access. It is very much playable, but only has one character level. We are working as fast as we can to get more content out ASAP! Every copy sold will help us get there quicker, so thanks for the support!
