Why Early Access?

“There are three complete game modes right now, but there is so much more I can do to add to this game. More power ups, more ways to compete... and the roguelike puzzle mode called The Quest. There hasn't really been a puzzle game quite like this before, so we're going to learn what this can be together. Your help will make a difference.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The length of our Early Access time is set by how many additional features we want to work in. Depending on the depth of The Quest and the complexity of other suggestions I implement, this game might leave Early Access at some point between August and October 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Quest is just a preview right now - I'd like to create a full roguelike adventure mode for it. There are many other enhancements that can be made to the puzzle modes of the game, including different pieces, powerups, and maybe even daily challenges.

I'll be listening to feedback and will try to add more as time progresses.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is stable and (as far as I can tell) bug-free.

  • Time Attack - Complete, though additional time options will be implemented.
  • Survival - Complete.
  • Timeless - Complete.
  • The Quest - Functional and bug-free, but the story and the quest development is incomplete.

Additional enhancements are planned for the gameplay across all four modes, including powerups and challenges.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect that the price will increase as I add additional features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players will play the game and suggest improvements in the game's discussion boards here on Steam. I intend to take the suggestions I like and can actually implement, and try them out. It isn't that complicated. =)”

About This Game

This game is my take on the block-placing puzzle genre. The pieces don't rotate, but there is no gravity. Place them anywhere! Complete a line or a column and those block pieces disappear. Score bonus points for completing multiple lines at once, or for completing combo chains, or both.

You can choose to race against the clock, or take all of the time in the world. There are three modes to play: a Time Attack (a two minute challenge), Survival (where you score bonus time for completing lines), and Timeless (where there is no clock at all, and you have a set number of turns instead).

There is a fourth mode, called The Quest, which is a preview of a story I need to tell. How Grid Magic is real, and how we are all players in a game, until we choose to break the rules and make our own. I wonder if this description will be read, or understood. I hope so.

Besides, what's the point of being a technical witch if I can't wield some magic with your game?

If you want to pretend that all of this is marketing text, that's great. I've made a nifty puzzle game that I hope you will enjoy. Or maybe, just maybe, this game is the start of something a bit more important.
