“I have been developing Fast and Low in my spare time for the past year and a half. Releasing it as Early Access will help me attain valuable feedback about the game from the Steam community, while allowing me more financial flexibility to improve my hardware. If this product proves to be successful, I would be able to develop Fast and Low to its entirety on a full-time basis. This will drastically speed up production time and allow me to deliver my final product much sooner.”

Although the vision of "Fast and Low"s multiplayer was local asymmetric multiplayer; with support from Early Access, there could be plans to add online VR co-op.”

“Early Access includes 6 handcrafted missions, a fully functional shooting range, 12 firearms, and 6 gadgets (flashbangs/frags/etc), all which will have to be unlocked as you play the game. There are multiple enemy types, including ones that dual wield, use shotguns, run for cover and others that pull concealed weapons etc. Upon loading each level, the spawn locations and the behaviors of the hostages and enemies will differ, so each mission play-through will be varied.

Every mission can be played solo, with an AI partner, or via asymmetric local multiplayer (one using VR, and the other as a standard FPS).

There is also an added Free-play mode for already unlocked missions. This will allow players to set the number of enemies and civilians before beginning the mission.”

Update 08/02/2019, What I've been working on, and Vacation Notice

Hey all,

A quick was released fixing a couple issues

1) Fixed controller issue with WMR headsets where left controller menu button wasn't working.

2) Optimized the clutter and lighting in Mission 2, to try to improve frames

Just to give an idea on what I've been working on in terms of new content. Without ruining too much of the layouts and whatnot, here is an idea of the upcoming 2 missions.

Mission 7: Japanese theme restaurant with Living Quarters

Mission 8: Apartment complex (Multifloored)

The goal of these missions is to emphasize more close quarter engagements.

Also, I will be on vacation for the next week with no access to fix anything (which shouldn't been too much of a problem since I think the game's in a pretty good state right now). I will be back to work on 08/10/2019.

Quick Update 07/30/2019

Just a couple of minor things.

Adjustments made for Vive Wands Haptics. I received feedback that controllers were continuing to vibrate/hum after shooting guns. This has been addressed

Played around with Unity's Audio manager. Hopefully this improves the surround sound audio.

Optimized code for Flashbangs/Stingers/Frags.

Please let me know if any of these issues persist.

Game Description

In a city under fire...it is up to two cops to clean up the streets. Players can take control of either Officer Maximus Faust (controlled with VR), or they can play as Officer Samuel Lo (played like a traditional FPS). Players using Officer Faust will be able to use VR moves (like peeking around corners, blind-firing their weapons, and dual wielding), whereas players using Officer Lo will be able to take advantage of a wider array of gadgets that is not available for Faust. Players can go through the levels solo (with their respective AI partner), or they can team up locally via asymmetric multiplayer to tackle each mission.

Key Features

  • Built from the ground up for room-scale Virtual Reality.
  • Game offers multiple forms of free-locomotion (arm-swinging or touch-pad locomotion). This can be adjusted in the menu board.
  • Realistic weapon handling!
  • Each mission has bonus objectives that provide players with the opportunity to unlock new weapons and new perks to further bolster their crime-stopping prowess. Try to find those hidden areas!
  • A Free play mode for unlocked missions! Adjust the number of civilians or hostiles in mission to increase/decrease the challenge!
  • Enemies take locational-based damage, and react accordingly. Shoot a hostile's arm and you can disarm them. Shoot one of their leg's and you'll cripple them. Or shoot out both of their legs...and watch them fall helplessly to the ground. Each limb has it's own individual health bar...so there will never be a case where unloading a full clip on your target's foot will kill them.
  • Ability to tone down the violence in the game. Character "gibbing" can be disabled entirely.

What is the goal of Fast and Low?

The vision of Fast and Low is to create a violent, tactical first-person shooter game within a colorful cartoon environment. Enemies have the ability to kill you in one or two bursts, but likewise, you can take out threats with one or two shots as well (depending on your accuracy). I wanted to create a game where the weapons have a strong impact when fired, making the kills feel very over-the-top. However, it is important to note that players should are only permitted to use deadly force when absolutely necessary… you are playing as cop after all.
One of the key features of Fast and Low is the ability to play locally with a buddy (via asymmetric multiplayer) on the same computer. I feel that there are not enough games currently in VR that allow interaction between a VR player and the outside world.

Who are the developers?

Just myself. This started off as a passion project which I worked on in my spare time. I only started learning how to use Unity and make models in blender a short while ago. Now, after a year and half of grinding… here we are!
