What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a small studio and are interested if you like the game idea.
We still have some ideas and plans to expand the gaming experience and are looking forward to your feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for the further features at least 2 more years. With this sufficient amount of time we can better guarantee that the game can go into the 1.0 release version without game blockers and with all planned features.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Plans include:

- Build new villages with your settlers.
- New important buildings, as well as more types of buildings presented visually.
- Families- and dynasty system.
- Advanced research.
- More and bigger maps.
- Other units (such as riders, archer, siege weapons, spies) for more depths.
- Advanced trade and exchange between empires.
- Events (raids, diseases, natural disasters, etc.)
- More victory options.
- More languages.
- New Sounds and Music.
- Optimization of graphics and performance.
- much more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game can be played completely on a larger island. These starting points differ with each game. The basic goal is to stand against the other villages and unite all under one ruler. In addition, there is another secret opportunity to win the game.

In detail you can do the following:
- Manage your empire
- Manage and grow your Cities.
- Do Basic research
- Build up an Army.
- Defend and conquer other cities with your army
- Diplomacy with other Empires.
- A lot more small and bigger things like weather influence and so on.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We want to thank early supporters with a lower price. At the current time it is planned to adjust the price with further updates and expanded game content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is required and desired. As a small studio, we will take as much of it into account as possible. You can give us feedback directly via Steam, as well as under info@civitas-nova.com and soon also on our still under construction webpage www.civitas-nova.com where also a forum integration is planned.”

About This Game

Civitas Nova is a complex strategy game that runs in real time but offers the opportunity to pause to think about the next move.

Goal

As head of a small village on a selection of islands, you have to assert yourself against other empires, city-states and barbarians. There are various ways to successfully complete the game. These range from conquering the entire island to peaceful victory or you choose something between the both.
Of course, there are many options to choose from to do this.

City management

Expand your settlement with the help of various buildings, create living space, increase the sphere of influence of the settlement and keep your residents happy so that their production does not decrease and they pay their taxes.

Imperial management

Set your flag, build a palace who is looking for his own kind, and make sure that corruption doesn't get out of hand. Also, you shouldn't neglect your influence if you run your empire badly, revolts and even deposition are at risk.

Diplomacy

A complex diplomacy system enables you to negotiate with other empires to declare peace, conclude trade agreements, and of course to stir up war and intrigue.
A conversation system that offers you a wide range of manipulation capabilities.

Research

From simple area research that promises you small bonuses to complex special research that lets you research new units, buildings and much more.
Good research can make the difference between winning and losing.

Military and unit administration

You can build everything from peaceful units such as settlers, which can found cities, to warlike units, such as infantry, archers, etc. But keep in mind that your units also want to be supplied with food and get trained.

Surroundings

It is important to plan strategically, because the weather plays a big role. If the temperature is very high or low, your troops will have problems, but cities will also be less productive and illnesses are more likely to develop.

Early access until release:

You can look forward to further features until the release, which will be announced shortly before. So stay tuned for what's to come.

Written enough, there is still a lot to discover, so be ready!
