What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“For a solo gamedev, early access is great way to gather additional and honest feedback outside of your social bubble. I ve tried this approach multiple times allready and it really helped with having great game ready for full release. In addition EA is great for recognizing what kind of content users want as sometimes as a dev. you might get different opinion and spend a lot of time working on part of the game nobody really caress about, while it could have been used working on something that would have actual use.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“My initial aim is to spend around 4 or 5 months in EA, followed by full release and free content updates, just like with my previous games.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Right now game can offer about 10 hours of gameplay content untill you ll get bored couse you have seen all the game can offer. Sure you can add some hours by leveling additional classes, but it would not be fair claiming that as "content".

Full version of the game will contain engaging endgame mode, more loot, more item perks, more weapons, more enemies, additional environments and tons of additional stuff worth grinding for or hoping to drop from a defeated enemy.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I would say game just reached its beta stage. All core systems are working, all of its main gameplay elements are there and settled well and in addition, game should be free of game crashing bugs, but we will see. First week of EA is always hectic and some problems will emerge. Im not naive to promise smooth ride all the way through, but i can promise i ll do my best to make the game as enjoyable experience as possible. Fore more details about the game, check paragraph above, "about this" section on its store page, ore one of its gameplay videos.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will double.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Im always listening to the community around the games i created, however its hard sometimes to recognize what is loud minority and what players really want. But i have been listening and tried to be resonable all the time while almost always opened to suggestions. You are all more than welcome to post your ideas, suggestions or impressions at games steam community center discussions.”

0.65 released!

Hello everyone! A bit delayed, but its finally here! Took some extra time, cause of personal life stuff happened again, but it have everything i wanted and even some more.

v0.65 content

  • Hinterlands datarealm
  • Plaguelnads datarealm
  • Legendary bows(Impaler and Agonizer)
  • Legendary armor
  • Dynamic credit dispense speed for chests
  • Datacubes shows max item level of loot you can expect
  • Smugglers shop
  • New chest armor perks
  • Stalkers holotargeting ability now affects heavy weapons as well
  • Stalkers Blood Harvest now scales with tech attribute

New datarealms
New datarealms were pushed forward to enrich gameplay a bit, sure these are not full new environments with its own set of enemies(yet), but mixing things up a bit different can create a new and fresh experience. For example rippers above ground in bigger than usual numbers with spores floating above their swarm can force the player to choose different approach, and that was the goal of this addition.

Legendary loot

Yes, the whole new weapon category is here and first true legendary armor as well. All of these can be crafted from a legendary blueprint/scheme or can be awarded from datarealms higher than lvl11.

Stalker changes

Changes done to stalker are just first step on towards the new task, to make using abilities more crucial and rewarding. All classes will be tuned a bit in the near future and even some of the less useful abilities will be replaced.

Started with the stalker as it suffered most from the issue of abilities not scaling well with game difficulty. Started with blood harvest, which can now be used as self-healing ability even on the highest difficulties and in addition holotargeting can now be used to aim heavy weapons.

Near future

The next update will be delayed by one week couse of family reasons. To keep this short, my wife can not move her legs again, doctors dont want to help and I'm stuck with a little daughter and crying wife at home, not able to go to work and earn money(at least I can say im professional gamedev since its only source of income now;-)). As you can imagine its not a great environment to think straight and focus on developing game. That's why i need some free time till the end of the week and works on update 0.7 will start on Monday. Sorry for breaking my promise of delivering an update every two weeks, but I hope you will understand my situation and won't be disappointed.

Given current circumstances, I don't want to promise content of 0.7, but would love to focus on even more loot that brings new mechanics to the game as working on bows was fun and I think they are an interesting option. In addition game needs even more ways you can spend credits and other currencies as well, so you can expect some more base additions as well.

Thanks for reading & with regards

v 0.6 Available!

Hello everyone! What a week! Sure, it took two weeks to push this update, but the last one was really busy as I did not realize what I have promised while writing the last announcement and promising update containing endgame mode within two weeks.

However here we are! Shame its just very first iteration of the endgame mode as even taking days off work to stay home and work on the update was not enough to include more than that.

For completing 3 mythos missions, you'll receive Datacube as a part of your reward chest. Datacubes are then used to open Dataportal and override max difficulty. Datacubes from reward chests always come at lvl 11, however, they can be upgraded.

By talking to inquisitor in the middle of the base you pick which datacube he has to use to open portal for you. Once sucked in you race against the time and once you complete your objective(kill all), datarealm boss is spawned. For now the bosses are just variations on existing commanders, however, they are much tougher. After a boss defeat, you are given your reward, and if you managed to kill that sucker in time, datacube you used to open the portal is upgraded to a higher level.

Why would you want to upgrade datacubes and rung higher level portals? Couse higher level portal means higher item level cap for loot. (more about formulas for calculating item level next time).

Future of the datarealms
Sadly I did not managed to push more of the content into the update, but we are still 0.4 worth of updates till full release and most of that will focus on datarealms.

You can expect more world randomization, new decorations, backgrounds and terrain variations. Unique datarealm bosses, more events, more unique loot and much more I would like to keep secret for now.

New guns

As a little extra for 0.6 update, I managed to include two new guns and both of them can be dropped by datarealm bosses only. I won't tell you what these new guns are(like surprises right?), but as if you are fans of classic PC shooters you will recognize both of them as soon as you spot them. Once they drop, don't forget to post us screen on to community center!;-)

Thats it for now! Hope this new update will give you a taste of my plans with the game and will bring additional couple of hours till you hit the datarealm difficulty ceiling. But you won't have to worry forever, new upadates are coming along with many new ways on how to obliterate the heretics!

Thanks for your support & with regards

About This Game

You are the drifter, a wandering agent of the inquisition taking rides through void portals wherever threat to the humanity emerges, spreading holy light and wisdom through superior firepower. It won't be easy at first, but you will grow in power, faith and equipment to take on bigger threats to spread influence of the Dreadborne Citadel to protect the remains of humanity.

Dreadborne Drifters is fast 2d platformer ARPG full of loot, tons of enemies and plenty of opportunities to make your character more powerful. The more you progress in the game, the more lootcentric it becomes as rare items come with unique perks that can create thousands of combinations and possible builds when combined with character talents you gain as you level up your character.

You can choose between Enforcer, Dronemancer or Stalker. Enforcer is a tough badass who can groundslam while creating massive impact explosion or can hover midair while launching a devastating rocket barrage. In addition enforcer is the only class who can gain energy shield for enhanced survivability. Dronemancer can control and command multiple drones, throw grenades, and unleash massive death beam. Stalker is cyber ninja-like character. Can detonate enemy corpses, use time hacks and drain souls of his enemies.

Every map is randomly generated during short loading. Filled with basic structures and enemies, mini underground dungeons and various environment specific terrain decorations, sometimes tied to minievents to enrich your journey and gain additional rewards. Dont expect anything too complex or complicated as Dreadborne Drifters is designed as run and gun game. Thats why you wont encounter anything that will disrupt your momentum for longer than necessary.

Weapon customization

Instead of using proceduraly generated weapons(whitch was original intention), i have decided to implement full weapon customization like you might know from bigger games and let players creat the guns they want, instead of having player waiting for very rare item drop. Various accessories can be attached to some of the guns(well, to any gun if you have right reputations and certain ammount of currency) and apply atributes that you lack, or need to run your build with ease.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Contains cartoonish blood and gore flying all over the place.

System Requirements

    • OS: Windows10
    • Processor: any
    • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4400
    • Storage: 200 MB available space
