What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier is currently in the Beta phase of development and still needs some work before completed. I want to be upfront and honest with gamers that the game still has some technical issues/bugs, but that I am working hard to resolve them. I want to gather more community feedback before releasing the final game. I am a college student and the sole developer of this game. I want to make learning math more fun and interactive. I have limited financial, and human resources which is the reason development is taking a longer duration of time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier will be in early access for one year, or possibly longer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier is subject to change and might differ from its original state. We plan on making the AI more intuitive, adding more math problems, improving the save game system, and better optimizing the game for low-end computer hardware. These proposed changes and improvements are our mission for Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier, but nothing is guaranteed, and the timeframe can’t be guaranteed. Different Game Studio is dedicated to building the best educational video game based on user feedback. Hopefully, our vision for Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier will someday come fully into fruition.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier is in the Beta phase of development. The core gameplay mechanics are working perfectly, such as the character's body movement, character combat/weapons, and character animations. The game's driving mechanics are also working perfectly with vehicle weapons being added in this third game. The save game system is 90% complete with the player being able to save weapons, ammo, and quest items. Currently, two weapons save/load correctly, but adding a third or fourth weapon can cause the Weapon Manager not to function properly. This glitch does not affect gameplay at all, and many weapons are scattered across the map to compensate for this technical issue, which I am working hard to resolve. All ammo and quest items save/load correctly. The AI soldiers and cybernetic robots always respond once loading a save game, even if you have already eliminated them. I apologize for this inconvenience; I am looking into solutions that will address this particular issue. Character footsteps are currently absent due to a technical issue, but the background soundtrack is fully functional. Upon starting the game, if you see the mouse cursor at the bottom of the screen when tilting the player's head down, restarting the game will fix that glitch and the mouse cursor will disappear. Lastly, the rover does not save in any form, however, weaponized rovers are scattered across the map to compensate for this issue.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not change when we leave early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am implementing user suggestions into the game if technically possible. Community feedback is essential to what I am trying to accomplish. I have learned so much from community feedback on my second game, Project Skylab 2. To communicate with the team, use our Steam Discussion board page, or contact us via our website https://www.differentgamestudio.com/”

About This Game

Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier is going to make Algebra three-dimensional, engaging, and non-isolating. In the game, you are stranded on the surface of Mars due to a catastrophic accident. You will learn how to solve basic to more complex Algebra problems in your pursuit to escape Mars, but danger lurks around every corner. Armed soldiers are patrolling the facilities and will shoot you on site; there is also an army of corrupted cybernetic killer robots hunting for you. Your goal is simple: find a way to escape Mars alive. You will have to use your arsenal of weapons to fend off heavily equipped soldiers, as well as the cybernetic killer robots. You will also have your trusty weaponized rover to guide you across the red planet. The Mars landscape is 4x4 miles, so have fun exploring. Hint, great rewards will be yielded to one that is adventurous. The goal of the game is to create a comfortable, relaxing, and fun learning environment for students.

IMPORTANT: This is a BETA build of Project Skylab 3: A New Frontier. I am a college student and the sole developer of this game. The game still needs some work, but it is a MASSIVE improvement over Project Skylab 2. I have read all your feedback in regards to Project Skylab 2, and have implemented to the best of my abilities the suggested changes and improvements. I am incredibly grateful to you the players for all of your incredible support! I hope you enjoy this new game! Any feedback is much appreciated!

Cheers!
