Why Early Access?

“The game is currently in closed alpha. I started this closed alpha to get feedback from players as well as directions for what should be prioritized in development. You can sign up on the official website (see links section).”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in closed alpha until all the fundamental features are implemented. I expect this will last at least a year. Afterwards, the open alpha might last 1-2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version of the game will have all the features of a colony management game. It will also have diplomacy and war mechanics to go along with the generated civilizations on the map. I also plan on making a map editor to create custom maps and cities (as an alternative to the world generator).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I have built a very solid foundation for Ironlaw. The game uses multi-threading to optimize most of the heavier tasks (pathfinding, item management, job searching). Many of the core systems needed to make the game are completed and optimized. Currently, you can build colonies at different places across the map, visit cities and talk with NPCs. The features relating to interactions with the outside world (diplomacy, wars) are not implemented yet. Content is also scarce as I'm still mostly focusing on the implementation of new features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase on full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I run a subreddit as well as a discord server to communicate with players and inform people about the development of the game (see official website in the links section to join).”

About This Game

Ironlaw is a game that combines the colony management aspects of games like Dwarf Fortress and Gnomoria with the party-based war, diplomacy and quests mechanics of Mount & Blade.
